His righteousness exalts their hope;

Nor Satan dares condemn,
The Lord, our glory and defence,

COME, dearest Lord, descend and dwell
By faith and love in ev'ry breast;
Then shall we know, and taste, and feel
The joy that cannot be express'd.
Come, fill our hearts with inward strength,
Make our enlarged souls possess,
And learn the height, and breadth, and

length,
Of thine unmeasurable grace.
Now to the God whose pow'r can do
More than our thoughts and wishes know,
Be everlasting honours done
By all the church, thro' Christ his Son.

468. CONFIRM the hope thy word allows,

Behold us waiting to be fed, Bless the provision of thy house,

And satisfy thy poor with bread. Drawn by thy invitation, Lord,

Athirst and hungry we are come;

Now from the fulness of thy word,

Feast us, and send us thankful home.

469. Christ's own soft hand shall wipe the tear

From each believing eye:
Affliction, pain, and grief, and fear,

And death itself, shall die,
How long, dear Saviour, O how long,

Shall this bright hour delay?
Fly swiftly round, ye wheels of time,
And bring the welcome day!

Come, thou soul-transforming Spirit,

Bless the sower and the seed;
Let each heart thy grace inherit,

Raise the weak, the hungry feed :
From the gospel
Now supply thy people's need.
O may all enjoy the blessing !

Which thy word's design'd to give:
Let us all, thy love possessing,

Joyfully the truth receive :
And for ever
To thy praise and glory live.

COME, guilty souls, and flee away
To Christ, and heal your wounds ;

This is the welcome gospel-day,

W'berein free grace abounds.
God lor'd the church, and gave his Son

To drink the cup of wrath:
And Jesus says he'll cast out none

That come to him by faith.

CONTENT and glad I'll ever be,
To have salvation, Lord, from thee,

Ev'n as a sipner poor:
I nothing have, I nothing am,
My treasure's in the bleeding Lamb,

Both now and evermore.

473. Come worship at Immanuel's feet, See in his face what wonders meet; Words are too feeble to express His worth, his glory, or his grace. When shall we climb those higher skies Where storms and tempests never rise; Where he unveils his lovely face, And shines and reigns the God of grace? Nor earth, nor air, nor sun, nor stars, Nor heaven, his full resemblance bears; His beauties we can never trace, 'Till we behold him face to face.

474. Come, Holy Ghost, our hearts inspire,

Let us thine influence prove; Source of the old prophetic fire,

Fountain of life and love : Come, Holy Ghost, for mov'd by thee

Thy prophets wrote and spoke;
Unlock the truth, thyself the key,

Unseal the sacred book.
Open the hearts of all who hear,

To make the Saviour room;
Now let us find redemption near,

Let faith by hearing come.

475. Dismiss us with thy blessing, Lord, Help us to feed upon thy word; All that has been amiss, forgive, And let thy truth within us live. Tho' we are guilty, thou art good; Wash all our works in Jesu's blood; Give ev'ry fetter'd soul release, And bid us all depart in peace.

DEAREST Saviour, help thy servant
To proclaim thy wond'rous love!
