וְאֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר גַּדְּלָוֹ הַמֶּלֶךְ וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁאוֹ עַל־ הַשָּׂרִים וְעַבְדֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ: וַיֹּאמֶר הָמָן אַף לֹא־הֵביאה 12 אֶסְתֵּר הַמַּלְכָּה עִם־הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶל־הַמִּשְׁתֵּה אֲשֶׁר־ עֶשְׂתָה כִּי אִם־אוֹתִי וְגַם־לְמָחָר אֲנִי קָרוּא־לָהּ עִם־ הַמֶּלֶךְ : וְכָל־זֶה אֵינֶנּוּ שׁוֶה לִי בְּכָל־עֵת אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי 13 רֹאֶה אֶת־מָרְדְּכַי הַיְהוּדִי יוֹשֵׁב בְּשַׁעַר הַמֶּלֶךְ : וַתֹּאמֶר לוֹ זֶרֶשׁ אִשְׁתּוֹ וְכָל־אֹהֲבָיו יַעֲשׂוּ־עֵץ גְּבהִ14 חֲמִשִׁים אַמָּה וּבַבּקֶר אֲמַר לַמֶּלֶךְ וְיִתְלָוּ אֶת־מָרְדְּכַי עָלָיו וּבָא עִם־הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶל־הַמִּשְׁתֶּה שָׂמֵחַ וַיִּיטַב הַדָּבָר י לִפְנֵי הָמָן וַיַּעַשׂ הָעֵץ : * בַּלַּיְלָה הַהוּא נָדְדָה שְׁנָתי ? הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיֹּאמֶר לְהָבִיא אֶת־סֵפֶר הַגִּבְלֹנוֹת דִּבְרֵי

הַיָּמִים וַיִּהְיוּ נִקְרָאִים לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ: וַיִּמָּצֵאכָתוּב אֲשֶׁר 2 הגיד מָרדכי עַל־בְּגַתנא ותרש שני סרִיסִי הַמֶּלֶךְ מִשְׁמְרֵי הַסֶף אֲשֶׁר בִּקְשׁוּלִשְׁלֹחַ יָד בַּמֶּלֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ: וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ מַה־נַּעֲשָׂה יְקָר וּגְדוּלָה לְמָרְדְּכַי עַל־ זה וַיֹּאמְרוּ נָעֲרִי הַמֶּלֶךְ מְשָׁרְתָיו לא־נַעֲשָׂה עָמוֹ דָּבָר: וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ מִי־בֶחָצר וְהָמָן בָּא לַחֲצר בֵּית-4 הַמֶּלֶךְ הַחִיצוֹנָה לֵאמֹר לַמֶּלֶךְ לִתְלוֹת אֶת־מָרְדְּכַי עַל־הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר־הֵכִין לִוֹ: וַיֹּאמְרוּ נָעֲרִי הַמֶּלֶךְ אֵלָיוה הִנֵּה הָמָן עֹמֵד בֶּחָצֵר וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ יָבְוֹא: וַיָּבוֹא 6 הָמָן וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ הַמֶּלֶךְ מַה־לָּעֲשׂוֹת בָּאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר הַמֶּלֶךְ חָפֵץבִּיקָרוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר הָמָן בְּלִבּוֹ לְמִי יַחְפָּץהַמֶּלֶךְ לַעֲשׂוֹת יָקֶר יוֹתֵר מִמֶּנִּי: וַיֹּאמֶר הָמָן אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ :

וַיְהִי בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי וַתִּלְבַּשׁ אֶסְתֵּר מַלְכוּת וַתַּעֲמד 1 בַּחֲצַר בֵּית־הַמֶּלֶךְ הַפְּנִימִית נְכַח בֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ וְהַמֶּלֶךְ יוֹשֵׁב עַל־כָּסֵא מַלְכוּתוֹ בְּבֵית הַמַלְכוּת נְכַח פּתַח הַבְּיִת : וַיְהִי כִרְאוֹת הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת־אֶסְתֵּר הַמַּלְכָּה 3 עמדֶת בְּחצר נָשָׂאָה חֵן בְּעֵינָיו וַיוֹשֵׁט הַמלֶךְ לְאַסְתִּר אֶת־שַׁרְבִיט הַזָהָב אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ וַתִּקְרַב אֶסְתֵּר וַתְּגַע בְּרֹאשׁ הַשַׁרְבִיט : וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ הַמֶּלֶךְ מַה־לָּךְ אֶסְתֵּר הַמַּלְכָּה וּמַה־בַּקְשָׁתֵךְ עַד־חֲצִי הַמַּלְכוּת וְיִנָּתֵן לָךְ : וַתֹּאמֶר אֶסְתֵּר אִם־עַל־הַמֶּלֶךְ טְוֹב יָבוֹא הַמֶּלֶךְ 4 וְהָמָן הַיּוֹם אֶל־הַמִּשְׁתֵּה אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתִי לְוֹ: וַיֹּאמֶרה הַמֶּלֶךְ מַהֲרוּ אֶת־הָמָן לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת־דְּבַר אֶסְתֵּר וַיָּרָא המלֶךְ וְהָמָן אֶל־הַמִּשְׁתֵּה אֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָה אֶסְתֵּר: וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ לְאֶסְתֵּר בְּמִשְׁתֵּה הַיַּיִן מַה־שְׁאֵלָהָךְ 6 וְיִנָּתֵן לָךְ וּמַה־בַּקְשָׁתֵךְ עַד־חֲצִי הַמַּלְכוּת וְתֵעָשׂ : וַתַּעַן אֶסְתֵּר וַתּאמַר שְׁאֵלָתִי וּבָקָשָׁתִי: אָס־מָצָאתִי הן בְּעֵינֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ וְאִם־עַל־הַמֶּלֶךְ טוֹב לָתֵת אֶת־ שְׁאֵלָתִי וְלַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת־בַּקְשָׁתִי יָבְוֹא הַמֶּלֶךְ וְהָמָן אֶל־ הַמִּשְׁתֶּה אֲשֶׁר אֶעֶשֶׂה לָהֶם וּמָחָר אֶעֶשֶׂה כִּדְבַר

מֶלֶךְ: ויצא הָמָן בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא שָׂמֵחַ וְטוֹב לֵב וְכַרְאוֹת 9 הָמָן אֶת־מָרְדְּכַי בְּשַׁעַר הַמֶּלֶךְ וְלֹא־קָט וְלֹא זֶע מִמֶנוּ וַיִּמָּלֵא הָמָן עַל־מָרְדְּכַי חֶמָה: וַיִּתְאַפַּק הָמָן • וַיָּבוֹא אֶל־בֵּיתוֹ וַיִּשְׁלַח וַיָּבא אֶת־אֹהֲבָיו וְאֶת־זֶרֶשׁ אִשְׁתּוֹ: וַיְסַפֵּר לָהֶם הָמָן אֶת־כְּבוֹד עָשְׁרוֹ וְרָב בּנָיו 11

שַׁעַר-הַמֶּלֶךְ: וַיִּגֶד־לוֹ מָרְדְּלַי אֶת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר קָרָהוּ 7 וְאֵת יִפָּרָשַׁת הַכֶּסֶף אֲשֶׁר אָמַר הָמָן לִשְׁקוֹל עַל־בִּנְזֵי ? הַמֶּלֶךְ בַּיְהוּדִיים לְאַבְּדָם: וְאֶת־פַּתְשֶׁגֶן בְּתַב הַדָּת 8

אֲשֶׁר־נִתַּן בְּשׁוּשָׁן לְהַשְׁמִידָם נָתַן לוֹ לְהַרְאוֹת אֶת־ אֶסְתֵּר וּלְהַגִּיד לָהּ וּלְצוּוֹת עָלֶיהָ לָבוֹא אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ לְהִתְחַבֶּן־לָוֹ וּלְבָקֵשׁ מִלְפָנָיו עַל־עַמָּהּ: וַיָּבֹא הֲתָךְ 9 וַיִּגַּד לְאֶסְתֵּר אֵת דִּבְרֵי מָרְדְּכָי; וַתֹּאמֶראֶסְתֵּר לַהֲתָךְ • וַתְּצוּהוּ אֶל־מָרְדְּכַי: כָּל־עבְדֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ וְעַם מְדִינוֹת 11

הַמֶּלֶךְ יִוֹדְעִים אֲשֶׁר כָּל־אִישׁ וְאִשָׁה אֲשֶׁר יָבוֹא אֶל־ ט הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶל-הֶחָצֵר הַפְּנִימִית אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יִקְרָא אַחַת דָּתוֹ

לְהָמִית לְבַד מֵאֲשֶׁר יְוֹשִׁיט־לוֹ הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת־שַׁרְבִיט הַזָהָב וְהָיָה וַאֲנִי לֹא נִקְרֵאתִי לָבוֹא אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ זֶה שְׁלוֹשִׁים יוֹם: וַיַגִּידוּ לְמָרְדְּכַי אֶת דִּבְרֵי אֶסְתֵּר:19 וַיֹּאמֶר מָרְדְּכַי לְהָשִׁיב אֶל־אֶסְתֵּר אַל־תְּדַמִיבְנַפְ לְהִמָּלֵט בֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ מִכָּל־הַיְהוּדִים: כִּי אִם־הַחֲרֵש 14 תַּחֲרִישִׁי בָּעֵת הַזֹּאת רֶוַח וְהַצְלָה יַעַמְוֹד לַיְהוּדִים מִמָּקוֹם אַחֵר וְאַתְּ וּבֵית־אָבִיד תּאבֵדוּ וּמִי יוֹדֵעַ אִם־ לְעֵת כָּזֹאת הִגַּעַתְּ לַמַּלְכוּת: וַתֹּאמֶר אֶסְתֵּר לְהָשִׁיב טו אֶל־מָרְדְּכַי : לֵךְ כְּנוֹס אֶת־כָּל־הַיְהוּדִים הַנִּמְצְאִים 16 בְּשׁוּשָׁן וְצִוּמוּ עָלַי וְאַל־תּאכְלוּ וְאַל־תִּשְׁתּוּ שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים לִילָה וָיוֹם גַּם־אֲנִי וְנַעֲרֹתֵי אָצוּם בָּן וּבְכֵן אָבוֹא אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ אֲשֶׁר לֹא כַדָּת וְכַאֲשֶׁר אָבַדְתִּי אָבָדְתִּי: וַיַּעֲבֹר מָרְדְּכַי וַיַּעַשׂ כְּכָל אֲשֶׁר־צְוּתָה עָלָיו אֶסְתֵּר:17
