Am I by my God deplor'd,
And fhall I not myself bemoan?
Turn, and look upon me, Lord,
And break my heart of ftone.

Look as when thy piteous eye

Was clos'd, that we might live; "Father," (at the point to die,) My Saviour gáfp'd, "forgive!" Surely with that dying word,

1

He turns and looks, and cries, "Tis done!" O my bleeding, loving Lord,

This breaks my heart of ftone,

HYMN CXCIV. An Hymn to the Trinity,

COME, thou almighty King,
Help us thy name to fing,
Help us to praife;.
Father all-glorious,

O'er all victorious!

Come, and reign over us,

Ancient of Days.

Jefus, our Lord, arife,
Scatter our enemies,

And make them fall;

Let thine almighty aid
Our fure defence be made,
Our fouls on thee be fta'd
Lord, hear our call.

1

Come, thou incarnate Word,
Gird on thy mighty fword,
Our pray'r attend;
Come, and thy people blefs,
And give thy word fuccefs:
Spirit of holiness,

On us defcend.

Come, holy Comforter,
Thy facred witness bear,
In this glad hour;
Thou, who almighty art,
Now rule in ev'ry heart,
And ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of pow'r.

To thee, great One in Three,
Eternal praises be,

Hence-evermore;

His fov'reign Majesty
May we in glory fee,

And to eternity

Love and adore.

HYMN CXCV.

Chrift the Believer's Refuge and Portion.

JESU, lover of my foul,

Let me to thy bofom fly;

While the nearer waters roll,

While the tempeft ftill is high; Hide me, O my Saviour, hide, Till the storm of life is past}

Safe into the haven guide,
O receive my foul at laft.
Other refuge have I none,

Hangs my helpless foul on thee;
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still fupport and comfort nie;
All my trust on thee is ftay'd,
All my help from thee I bringi
Cover my defenceless head
With the fhadow of thy wing.
Thou, O Chrift, art all I want,
Ev'ry good in thee I find;
Raife the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the fick, and lead the blind.
Juft and holy is thy name,

I am all

unrighteousness;

Vile, and full of fin I am,

Thou art full of truth and grace.
Plenteous grace with thee is found
Grace to pardon all my fin;
Let the healing ftreams abound,
Make and keep me pure within 2
Thou of life the fountain art,
Freely let me take of thee;
Spring thou up within my heart,
Rife to all eternity.

HYMN CXCVI. Defiring to praife worthily.

COME, thou fount of ev'ry bleffing,

Tune my heart to fing thy grace;

Streams of mercy never ceafing,
Call for fongs of loudest praise;"
Teach me fome melodious fonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above;
Praife the mount-oh fix me on it,
Mount of God's unchanging love!
Here I raise my Eben-Ezer,
Hither by thine help I'm come;
And I hope, by thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home;
Jefus fought me when a stranger,
Wand'ring from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interpos'd with precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm conftrain'd to be!
Let that grace now like a fetter

Bind my wand'ring heart to thee; Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love→ Here's my heart-O take and seal it! Seal it from thy courts above!

HYMN CXCVII.

Adoring free and fovereign Mercy.

LORD, how great's the favour
That we, fuch finners poor,

Can, through thy blood's fweet favour,
Approach thy mercy's door;

And find an open paffage
Unto the throne of grace;
There wait the welcome meffage
That bids us go in peace.

Lord, we are helplefs creatures,
Full of the deepest need
Throughout defil'd by nature,
Stupid, and inly dead:
Our ftrength is perfect weakness,
And all we have is fin,

Our hearts are all uncleanness,
A den of thieves within.

In this forlorn condition,
Who fhall afford us aid?
Where fhail we find compaffion,
But in the church's Head?
Jefus, thou art all pity,

O take us to thine arms;
And exercise thy mercy,

To fave us from all harms.

We'll never cease repeating
Our numberless complaints,
But ever be entreating

The glorious King of Saints; Till we attain the image

Of him we inly love;

And pay our grateful homage

With all the faints above.
