His reign shall know no end,
And round his pierced feet
Fair flowers of Paradise extend
Their fragrance ever sweet.
All hail! Redeemer, hail!
For thou hast died for me:
Thy praise shall never, never fail,
Throughout eternity.

620 Do not I love thee, O my Lord?

C.M.

Then let me nothing love :
Dead be my heart to every joy,
When Jesus cannot move.
Hast thou a lamb in all thy flock
I would disdain to feed?

Hast thou a foe before whose face
I fear thy cause to plead?

Thou know'st I love thee, dearest Lord;
But oh, I long to soar

Far from the sphere of mortal joys,
And learn to love thee more.

621 BLESS'D be the everlasting God,

C.M.

The Father of our Lord;

Be his abounding mercy praised,
His majesty adored.

When from the dead he raised his Son,

And call'd him to the sky,

He gave our souls a lively hope

That they should never die.

What though our inbred sins require

Our flesh to see the dust?

Yet as the Lord our Saviour rose,

So all his followers must.

148th.

622 MY life's a shade, my days
Apace to death decline;
My Lord is Life, he'll raise
My dust again, even mine.
Sweet truth to me! I shall arise,
And with these eyes my Saviour see.

My peaceful grave shall keep
My bones till that sweet day,
I wake from my long sleep
And leave my bed of clay.
Sweet truth to me! I shall arise,
And with these eyes my Saviour see.

623 THE saints who now in Jesus sleep,
His own almighty power shall keep,
Till dawns the bright illustrious day,
When death itself shall die away.

L.M.

How loud shall our glad voices sing,
When Christ his risen saints shall bring
From beds of dust and silent clay,
To realms of everlasting day!

624 FROM all that dwell below the skies

L.M.

Let the Creator's praise arise;

Let the Redeemer's name be sung
Through every land, by every tongue.

Eternal are thy mercies, Lord;
Eternal truth attends thy word :
Thy praise shall sound from shore to

shore,

Till suns shall rise and set no more.

625 HE feeds and clothes us all the way,

L.M.

He guides our footsteps lest we stray; He guards us with a powerful hand, And brings us to the heavenly land. O let the saints with joy record The truth and goodness of the Lord! How great his works! how kind his ways! Let every tongue pronounce his praise. 626 AMIDST the roaring of the sea,

L.M.

My soul still hangs her hope on thee;
Thy constant love, thy faithful care,
Is all that saves me from despair.

O Lord! the pilot's part perform, [storm;
And guide and guard me through the
Defend me from each threatening ill,
Control the waves, say, "Peace-be still!"
Though tempest-tossed, and half a wreck,
My Saviour through the floods I seek;
Let neither winds nor stormy main
Force back my shattered bark again.

627 THE men that keep thy law with care,

C.M.

And meditate thy word,

Grow wiser than their teachers are,
And better know the Lord.

Thy precepts make me truly wise;
I hate the sinners' road;

I hate my own vain thoughts that rise;
But love thy law, O God.

628 GREAT is their peace who love thy law,

C.M.

How firm their souls abide !

Nor can a bold temptation draw
Their steady feet aside.

Thou hast inclined this heart of mine

Thy statutes to fulfil ;

And thus, till mortal life shall end,
Would I perform thy will.

629 FOR yet I know I shall him praise,
Who graciously to me

C.M.

The health is of my countenance,
Yea, mine own God is he.

630 THE Lord of glory is my light,

C.M.

S.M.

And my salvation too;

God is my strength, nor will I fear
What all my foes can do.

When troubles rise, and storms appear,
In him his children hide :

God has a strong pavilion, where
He makes my soul abide.

THOU art gone up on high,
To mansions in the skies;
And round thy throne unceasingly
The songs of praise arise.
Thou art gone up on high ;

But thou wilt come again,
With all the bright ones of the sky
Attendant in thy train.

632 OUR Lord is risen from the dead ;
Our Jesus is gone up on high;

L.M.

The powers of hell are captive led—
Dragg'd to the portals of the sky.
There his triumphal chariot waits,
And angels chant the solemn lay ;-
"Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates;
Ye everlasting doors, give way.”

633

S.M.

"Who is the King of glory, who?"
The Lord of glorious power possess'd,
The King of saints and angels too :
God over all, for ever bless'd!

FORTHWITH a tongue of fire
Is seen on every brow;

Each heart receives the Father's light,
The Word's enkindling glow.

The Holy Ghost on all

Is mightily outpoured,

Who straight in divers tongues declare
The wonders of the Lord.

The Father and the Son,
And Spirit we adore ;

Oh, may the Spirit's gifts be poured
On us for evermore.

634 WHAT a beautiful sight, when the chil

In their primitive purity shone !
The disciples of old never strayed from the fold,
But they all were united in one.

The affections of grace were with prayer and with
Carried on with their every employ; [praise
Their meals were all blest, and their hearts they
In songs of angelical joy.

Their impotent foes could no longer oppose,
Or withhold their extorted esteem ; [grace,
But were forced to give place to a torrent of
And were all carried down with the stream.
