WE

E thank Thee, most loving God, that Thou hast put it into the hearts of so many to give their lives to the helping and comforting of Thy sick children. We pray for them that Thou wouldest grant them the needed strength of body and of mind for their heavy tasks. Give them patience with the fretful and the wayward; sympathy with the despondent and the suffering; skill to guide the wandering mind; tenderness to touch with healing strength the bruised and afflicted body; power to say the needed word, and wisdom to learn that there is a time to be silent. Not of themselves, but of Thee, cometh their sufficiency. Out of the riches of Thy grace, supply all their need,

we beseech Thee. May they ever bear in mind the glory Thou hast put upon them in calling them to share with Jesus Christ, the Servant of humanity, in ministering to those who have fallen by the wayside of life; that at the last they may hear with gladness His gracious word, "I was sick and ye visited me. Enter ye into the joy of your Lord." These petitions we present in His name and we ask Thee to hear us for His sake. Amen.

FOR STUDENTS

H

EAR us, O never-failing Light,

Fount of all Truth, Source of all Wisdom, as we pray for those who are called to the tasks of learning, to the discipline of the intellect. Inspire all students with the desire for reality in thought, that they may know Thee, the ultimate Truth, the Infinite Mind, whose thoughts they can but think again. Cast out all intellectual vanity and vain-glory. Forbid that they should ever pretend to a knowledge they do not possess. Make them to be faithful in all their work, loyal to their teachers, earnestly desirous of the best gifts, yet ever rejoicing in another's success. Fill them with great hopes for the future, with pure and unselfish ambitions, that

in due time they may give of what they have received and impart some good to those who are ignorant and out of the way. Spirit of all counsel and knowledge! Guide the feet of Thy servants into the paths of eternal life. May their souls be lamps of Thine, burning and shining with the truth, dimmed by no evil passion, darkened by no deadly sin. May it be theirs to have the secret of Christ, which is the secret of blessedness, without which all other learning is but dust and ashes. We ask this for His sake. Amen.

WE

E bless Thee, O God, for the men and women whom Thou hast called to the work of training the young. We thank Thee for the influence of teachers upon our lives and characters. We would never forget the greatness of the debt we owe them. We remember how patient they were with our dulness, how forbearing with our perverseness, how sympathetic with our discouragement, how helpful and generous in all their work of guidance and instruction.

We bless Thee for the selfdenial and devotion of Thy servants who in school and college and university are making the generation that is to be. Grant that we may uphold them by our interest and prayers and good
