IN THE MORNING Y Father and my God! MY Thou knowest that my deepest desire is unto Thee, to be at one with Thee now and always. Enlighten my mind in the knowledge of Thy will, and give me strength and courage to walk according to Thy word. Reveal to me my duties. Never let me be dismayed at the greatness of the debt I owe to others, but may I all the more summon every energy for its discharge. Here and now I surrender body, soul and spirit, a living sacrifice to Thee. Though I am not worthy to be called Thy son, I beseech Thee to set before me some task of love that I may show the sincerity of this my vow by performing it as unto Thee alone. This prayer I offer in Christ's name. Amen. IN THE MORNING GOD, I know not what a day may bring forth. In perfect confidence I would place my hand in Thine and follow Thee this day, whether Thou leadest me to success or failure, pleasure or pain, to sorrow or to joy. I know not what is good for me. Thou knowest. My deepest desire is to love what Thou lovest, and will what Thou willest. Hear my prayer for Jesus Christ my Redeemer's sake. Amen. IN TIME OF TEMPTATION TRONG Son of God, who wast tried and tempted to the uttermost, yet without sin; be near me now with Thy strength and give me the victory over this evil desire that threatens to ruin me. I am weak, O Lord, and full of doubts and fears. There are moments when I am afraid of myself, when the world and the flesh and the devil seem more powerful than the forces of good. But now I look to Thee in whom dwelleth all the fulness of grace and might and redemption. Blessed Saviour! I take Thee afresh to be my Refuge, my Covert, my Defence, my strong Tower from the enemy. Hear me and bless me now and ever. Amen. IN TIME OF SUFFERING LORD, my God, I am in Thy hands, I resign myself unreservedly to Thee. Relieve my pain, or strengthen me to bear it. O be not silent unto me, lest, if Thou be silent, my faith should die and my hope perish. Speak to me and I ask no more. For I know if Thou hearest me, then I have the petitions I desire of Thee, through Jesus Christ my Saviour. Amen. IN TIME OF DOUBT GOD, help me to believe in Thee. I need Thee to keep me loyal to the great realities of truth and goodness, of love and righteousness, to strengthen my will for the fulfillment of every duty, and to enable me to disbelieve my fears and to trust my hopes. Reveal Thyself to me as my soul's Companion and Friend. Only let me know that Thou art with me, and I will face the worst that may befall, knowing that all things, suffering and adversity, as well as joy and well-being,-work together for good to them that love Thee. Set me free from every restraining care and anxiety that I may give myself without reserve to the doing of Thy will, and so come to know Thy peace. Amen. |
