The voice of free grace. [Tune on p. 266.]

Hallelujah to the Lamb, who has purchased

our pardon:

We will praise him again when we pass over Jordan.

2 Now glory to God in the highest is given; Now glory to God is re-echoed in heaven; Around the whole earth let us tell the glad story,

And sing of his love, his salvation and glory. Hallelujah to the Lamb, &c.

3 O Jesus, ride on,-thy kingdom is glorious; O'er sin, death, and hell, thou wilt make us victorious:

Thy name shall be praised in the great congregation,

And saints shall ascribe unto thee their salvation.

Hallelujah to the Lamb, &c.

HE voice of free grace cries,-Escape to 4 When on Zion we stand, having gain'd the the mountain; blest shore,

For Adam's lost race Christ hath open'd a With our harps in our hands, we will praise

fountain:

For sin and uncleanness, and every transgression,

His blood flows most freely, in streams of salvation.

evermore:

We'll range the blest fields on the banks of the river,

And sing of redemption forever and ever.
Hallelujah to the Lamb; &c.

3 Learning's redundant part and vain
Be here cut off, and cast aside :
But let them, Lord, the substance gain;
In every solid truth abide;
Swiftly acquire, and ne'er forego
The knowledge fit for man to know.
4 Unite the pair so long disjoin'd,
Knowledge and vital piety:
Learning and holiness combined,

And truth and love, let all men see
In those whom up to thee we give,
Thine, wholly thine, to die and live.

Circumspection. 153-c. ATCH'D by the world's malignant eye,

As servants of the Lord most high,

As zealous for his glorious Name,
We ought in all his paths to move
With holy fear and humble love.

2 That wisdom, Lord, on us bestow,
From every evil to depart;
To stop the mouth of every foe,

While, upright both in life and heart,
The proofs of godly fear we give,
And show them how the Christians live.

2 When thou the work of faith hast wrought,
I here shall in thine image shine,
Nor sin in deed, or word, or thought.

Let men exclaim, and fiends repine,
They cannot break the firm decree,-
All things are possible to me.
3 All things are possible to God,-
To Christ, the power of God in man,-
To me, when I am all renew'd,-

When I in Christ am form'd again,
And witness, from all sin set free,-
All things are possible to me.

THOU, whom fain my soul would love,
Whom only I desire to know:

This veil of unbelief remove,

And show me all thy goodness, show; Jesus, thyself in me reveal;

Tell me thy name, thy nature tell.

2 Hast thou been with me, Lord, so long,
Yet thee, my Lord, have I not known?
I claim thee with a falt'ring tongue;
I pray thee, in a feeble groan,
Tell me, O tell me, who thou art,
And speak thy name into my heart.

3 If now thou talkest by the way With me, the abject sinner, me, The mystery of grace display;

Open mine eyes that I may see: That I may understand thy word, And now cry out,-It is the Lord!

Ardent longings for the blessing. 154-b.

COME, O thou universal Good,

Balm of the wounded conscience, come! The hungry, dying spirit's food,

The weary, wand'ring pilgrim's home;
Haven to take the shipwreck'd in,
My everlasting rest from sin.

2 Come, O my comfort and delight;
My strength and health, my shield and sun,
My boast, and confidence, and might,

My joy, my glory, and my crown: My Gospel hope, my calling's prize; My tree of life, my paradise.

3 The Secret of the Lord thou art, The mystery so long unknown; Christ in a pure and perfect heart;

The name inscribed on the white stone: The life divine, the little leaven, My precious pearl, my present heaven.

SON

Weak and helpless.

ON of God, thy blessing grant; Still supply my every want; Tree of life, thine influence shed: From thy fulness I am fed.

2 Tend'rest branch, alas! am I,-
Wither without thee and die;
Weak as helpless infancy:
O confirm my soul in thee!
3 Unsustain'd by thee, I fall;
Send the help for which I call:
Weaker than a bruised reed,
Help I every moment need.

4 All my hopes on thee depend;
Love me, save me to the end;
Give me persevering grace;
Take the everlasting praise.

SINNERS, turn; why will ye die?
God, your Maker, asks you why?
God, who did your being give,
Made you with himself to live;
He the fatal cause demands;
Asks the work of his own hands,-
Why, ye thankless creatures, why
Will ye cross his love, and die?

2 Sinners, turn; why will ye die?
God, your Saviour, asks you why?
He, who did your souls retrieve,
Died himself, that ye might live.
Will ye let him die in vain?
Crucify your Lord again?

Why, ye ransom'd sinners, why
Will ye slight his grace, and die?

3 Sinners, turn; why will ye die?
God, the Spirit, asks you why?
He, who all your lives hath strove,
Urged you to embrace his love.
Will ye not his grace receive?
Will ye still refuse to live?
O ye dying sinners, why,
Why will ye forever die?

934 Partnership of the saints in light.

JESU

ESUS is our common Lord;
He our loving Saviour is;
By his death to life restored,
Misery we exchange for bliss;-
Bliss to carnal minds unknown;
O'tis more than tongue can tell;
Only to believers shown,-

Glorious and unspeakable.

2 Christ, our Brother and our Friend, Shows us his eternal love: Never shall our triumphs end,

Till we take our seats above. Let us walk with him in white; For our bridal day prepare; For our partnership in light,For our glorious meeting there.
