a The Devils believe, that there is a God, and tremble; and they know Jesus, who he is, the Holy One of God, the Son of the Most High. For, with Authority, he commanded the unclean Spirits, and they obeyed him: And, when they saw him, they fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

b He gave, alfa, his Disciples Power and Authority over all Devils, and unclean Spirits; and even the Devils were subject unto them, through his Name.

c Our Adversary, the Devil, is come down unto us, having great Wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time; and, he goeth to and fro in the Earth; and walketh up and down in it, as a roaring Lion, seeking whom he may devour.

d This is Beel2ebub, the Prince, and chief of Devils; who is also styled, The Prince, and God of this World, the wicked One, the Enemy, and Tempter of Mankind; who had the Power of Death, till Christ, through Death, destroyed him.

t How art thou sallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, Son of the Morning! Thou, who saidst, I w1ll exalt my Throne above the Stars of God, I will be like the Most High: behold, thou art sallen, as Lightning, from Heaven.

G 3 DisobeDisobedience: and the working of Satan, is, with all Power and Signs , and lying Wonders, .and with all Deceivablenesi of Unrighteousness, in them that perish.

» The Devil was a Murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the Truth, because there is no Truth in him. When he speaketh a Lye, he speaketh of his own; for he is aLiar, and the Father of it.

b The Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a Man which sowed good Seed in his Field j but while Men slept, his Enemy came and sowed Tares among the Wheat. He that soweth the good Seed is the Son of Man, the Field is the World; the good Seed are the Children of the Kingdom; but the Tares are the Children of the Wicked One; and the Enemy, that soweth them, is the Devil.

c In this, the Children of God are manifest, and the Children of the Devil; whosoever doth not Righteousness, is not of God, neither he that loveth not his Brother.

d He that committeth Sin, is of the Devil. For the Devil sinneth from the beginning. Ani they that are of their Father the Devil, will do the Lusts of their Father.

« Cain was of that Wicked One, and slew his Brother, because his own Works were Evil, and his Brother's R1ghteous.

f The God of this World hath blinded the Minds of them which believe not, lest the Light of the glorious Gospel of Christ slrould shine unto them.

Some hear the Word of God, but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the Word out of their Hearts, lest they should believe and be faved.

b Sometimes, when the unclean Spirit is gone out of a Man, he returneth aga1n, and taketh with him seven other Spirits, more wicked than h1mself, and they enter in, and dwell there; and the last State of that Man is worse than the first.

c Wherefore take unto you the whole Armour of God, that ye maybe able to stand against thcWiies of the Devil. For we wrestle not against Flesh and Blood; but against Principalities, against Powers, against the Rulers of the Darkness of this World, against spiritual Wickedness in high places.

dBe sober,, be vigilant; lest, by any means, as the Serpent beguiled Eve through his Subtlety, the Tempter st1ould tempt you also, and so your Minds should be corrupted from the Simplicity that is in Christ.

eFor Satan himself is transformed into an Angel of Light; and therefore it is no great thing, if his Ministers also, vi2.. False Apostles, and deceitful Workers, be transformed as the Ministers ot Righteousness.'

* Is we do not give place to the Devil, but res1st him, stedfast in the Faith , he will slee from us. But it is difficult for them to recover themselves out of the Snare of the Devil, who arc taken Captive by him at his Will.

b If any Man, that is called a Brother, be a Fornicator, or Covetous, or an Idolater, or a Railer, or a Drunkard, or an Extortioner, or such like wicked Person; it is so judged, and ordered by the Apostles, that, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we are gathered together, with the Power of our Lord Jesus Christ, such a one be delivered unto Satan, for the Destruction of the Flesh; or, that he may learn not to blaspheme; that the Spirit may be faved, in the Day of the Lord Jesus.

Chap. VI.

Concerning the DUfT of MAN to GOD.

In Gen Er Al.

» \ LL the Ends of the World shall remember Jt\, and turn unto the Lord: all Dominions shall serve, and obey him.

b All Nations whom thou hast made, shall come and worship before thee, O Lord'; and shall glorifie thy Name.

c As I live, saith the Lord, every Knee shall bow to me, and every Tongue shall confess to God.

d None of us Tiveth to himself, and no Mart dieth to himself. For, whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we d1e, we die unto the Lord: Whether we l1ve, therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. And we are not out own; for we are bought w1th a Price. Let ustherefore glorifie God, in our Body, and in out Spirit, wh1ch are God's.

e Let us have Grace whereby we may serve God acceptably; serving him w1th our Spirit, ill the Gospel of h1s Son.
