Christ to sit on his throne; he seeing this before, spake of the RESURRECTION OF CHRIST, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore, being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now WHEŃ THEY HEARD THIS, THEY WERE PRICKED IN THEIR HEART, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL WE DO? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins: and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And FEAR CAME UPON EVERY SOUL: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles."- Acts ii. 1—43.

"And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and the graves were opened; and MANY BODIES OF SAINTS WHO SLEPT AROSE, and came out of the grave after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him watching Jesus, saw the EARTHQUAKE, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."-Matthew

xxvii. 51-54.

"I say, then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Wot ye not what the Scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. Even so then at this present time also THERE IS A REMNANT according to the election of grace.” -Romans xi. 1-5.

18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldst give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, sinall and great; and shouldst destroy them that destroy the flesh.

19 And the Jesus of God was discovered in heaven, and there was seen in his Jesus the ark" of his testament: and there were glories, and praises, and honours, and power, and great chastening.

This is the close of the sixth trumpet; as "the first woe is past" was that of the fifth trumpet. Therefore this verse, and the last of the 9th chapter, include all the subject matter between them as a parenthesis.See note (") 10th chapter.

The beasts, or TEMPORAL kings, no longer appeared as leaders of the ceremonial worship; and the twenty-four elders praised God for the advent of the ETERNAL or SPIRITUAL king.

"The ark was removed when the earthly temple of Solomon was destroyed, and was never again heard of till the sounding of this trumpet, when it was discovered in Jesus.
