And as the present is a time when the Christian world is alive to every sentiment of humanity, and all striving to throw in their mite into the treasury, in order that the grand object, the salvation of the souls of men, may be effected, he feels a consciousness, that in presenting this little work to the public, he is offering something, although small yet substantial and wel. calculated, if read with serious attention, to stir up the unawakened soul to a sense of his depraved situation, and to beget a spirit of inquiry in the mind, which may lead the inquiring soul to open his lips in prayer, and press his suit at a throne of grace-believe, and enter into the joy of his Lord.
