SERMON I.
. IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MEN ONCE TO DIE, BUT AFTER THIS
THE JUDGMENT.
fiebix. 27, 28.-And as it is appointed unto men
once to die, but after this the judgment ; so Christ
was once offered to bear the sins of many ; and
unto them that look for him shall he appear the sec-
ond time, without sin unto salvation. - - - - 9

SERMON II.
CHRIST OUR EXAMPLE.
Heb. xii. 2.- Looking unto Jesus, the author and fin-
isher of our faith ; who, for the joy that was set
before him, endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of
God. - - - - - - - - -.

SERMON III.
RICH MAN AND LAZARUS.
St. Luke xvi. 1931.-_There was a certain rich man,
which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and far-
ed sumptuously every day. And there was a certain
beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate
full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs
that fell from the rich man's table : moreover the
dogs came and licked his sores.-And it came to
pass that the beggar died, and was carried by the
angels into Abraham's bosom : the rich man also
died, and was buried; and in hell he lifted up his
eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar
off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ' And he cried and
said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger
in water, and cool my tongue ; for I am tormented
in this flane. But Abraham said, Son, remember
that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things,
and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is
comforted, and thou art tormented. And, beside
all this, between us and you there is a great gulf
fixed : so that they which would pass from hence
to you cannot : neither can they pass to us that
would come from thence. Then he said, I pray
thee, therefore, father, that thou wouldst send him
to my father's house, for I have five brethren ; that
he may testify unto them, lest they also come into
this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him,
they have Moses and the prophets ; let them hear
them. And he said, nay, father Abraham : but if
one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
And he said unto him, if they hear not Moses and
the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though
one rose from the dead. - - - - - - - -
SERMON IV.

foxes in the desert. . - - - - - - - - -
SERMON V.
MEN REWARDED ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS IN THE PRES-
ENT LIFE.
1 Peter iii. 10, 11.–For he that will love life and see
good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and
his lips that they speak no guile : let him eschew
evil and do good, let him seek peace and ensue it. 62
SERMON VI.
THE SINNER MEETS WITH DESERVED PUNISHMENT.
1 Peter iv. 17, 18.-For the time is come that judgment
must begin at the house of God; and if it first be-
gin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey
not the gospel of God ? And if the righteous
scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and
sinner appear ? . - - - - - - - - - -
