"The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion."

ImfTHY goodness, Lord, our souls con- 4 cres But chiefly Thy compassions, Lord,

Thy goodness we adore; [fess,

A spring whose blessings never fail,
A sea without a shore.

Are in the Gospel seen;

There, like a sun, Thy mercy shines,
Without a cloud between.

2 mf Sun, moon, and stars Thy love attest 5mf Thy Son, Thy noblest, choicest gift, In every golden ray;

p Love draws the curtain of the night,
cres And love returns the day.

3mf Thy bounty every season crowns
With all the bliss it yields;
With joyful clusters loads the vine,
With strengthening grain the fields.

SURSUM CORDA.

Was from Thy bosom sent,

To bear from off our sinking world
Its load of punishment.

6 f Pardon, acceptance, peace, and joy
Are published in His name;
Ours is the life, the glory ours,
p And His the death and shame.
Amen.

28 "Thou shalt remember all the way by which the Lord thy God led thee."

I ƒ WHEN all Thy mercies, O my God, 2mf Unnumbered comforts on my soul My rising soul surveys,

Transported with the view, I'm lost
In wonder, love, and praise.

Thy tender care bestowed, Before my infant heart conceived

From whom these comforts flowed

3 When worn with sickness, oft hast 5 mf When nature fails, and day and night

Thou

With health renewed my face; And, when in sins and sorrows sunk, cres Revived my soul with grace.

4 Through every period of my life Thy goodness I'll proclain; And after death, in distant worlds, Resume the glorious theme.

Divide Thy works no more, cres My ever grateful heart, O Lord, Thy mercy shall adore.

6 f Through all eternity to Thee
A joyful song I'll raise;
For, oh! eternity's too short
To utter all Thy praise. Amen.

Dix.

"We have seen His star in the cast, and are come to worship Him.”
Imf BRIGHTEST and best of the sons of the morning,
Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid;

Star of the East, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

2 Cold on His cradle the dew-drops are shining;
Low lies His head with the beasts of the stall;
cres Angels adore Him in slumber reclining,

ƒ Maker and Monarch and Saviour of all.
3f Say, shall we yield Him, in costly devotion,
Odours of Edom and offerings divine,

Gems of the mountain and pearls of the ocean,
Myrrh from the forest or gold from the mine?

4 Vainly we offer each ample oblation,

Vainly with gifts would His favour secure ; cres Richer by far is the heart's adoration,

Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.
5/ Brightest and best of the sons of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid;
Star of the East, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid. Amen.

"When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy."

1fAS with gladness men of old

Did the guiding star behold;
As with joy they hailed its light,
Leading onward, beaming bright;
So, most gracious Lord, may we
Evermore be led to Thee.

2 mf As with joyful steps they sped
To that lowly manger-bed,
There to bend the knee before

Pure, and free from sin's alloy, f All our costliest treasures bring, Christ, to Thee, our heavenly King.

4 Holy Jesus, every day

Keep us in the narrow way; cres And, when earthly things are past, Bring our ransomed souls at last mf Where they need no star to guide, Where no clouds Thy glory hide.

Him, whom heaven and earth adore; 5 ƒ In the heavenly country bright

So may we with willing feet
Ever seek Thy mercy-seat.

3mf As they offered gifts most rare
At that manger rude and bare;
So may we with holy joy,

Need they no created light;
Thou its light, its joy, its crown,
Thou its sun which goes not down;
ff There for ever may we sing

Hallelujahs to our King. Amen.
