One faith, one hope, one baptism." I mf ONE sole baptismal sign,

3 P Oh, may that holy prayer,

I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day," Imf LORD, remove the veil away, 3 From beyond the grave's dark night Let us see Thyself to-day !

What mild radiance meets my sight' Thou who camest from on high, Softly stealing on the ear, p For our sins to bleed and die,

What strange music do I hear? cres Help us now to cast aside

mf 'Tis the golden crowns on high ! All that would our hearts divide; "Tis the chorus of the sky! With the Father and the Son dim Lord, Thy sinful child prepare Let Thy living Church be one.

For a place and portion there. 2mf Oh, from earthly cares set free, 4mf Give my soul the spotless dress Let us find our rest in Thec !

Of Thy perfect righteousness; May our toils and conflicts cease Then at length, a welcome guest, In the calm of Sabbath peace,

I shall enter to the feast, hoes That Thy people, here below, f Take the harp, and raise the song

Something of the bliss may know, All Thy ransomed ones among ; Something of the rest and love, Earthly cares and sorrows o'er, In the Sabbath-home above.

203 This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest."
imf O DAY of rest and gladness !

A day of sweet refection
O day of joy and light !

Thou art, a day of love,
P O balm of care and sadness, cres A day of resurrection
Most beautiful, most briglit!

From earth to things above. fres On thee, the high and lowly

4ms To-day on weary nations Before the eternal throne

The heavenly manna falls ; f Sing, “Holy, holy, holy !"

To holy convocations
To the great Three in One.

cres The silver trumpet calls, 2 mf On thee, at the creation,

| Where Gospel-light is glowing The light first had its birth,

With pure and radiant beams On thee, for our salvation,

And living water flowing
Christ rose from depths of earth ; With soul refreshing streams,
Cres On thee, our Lord victorious

5 mf New graces ever gaining
The Spirit sent from heaven;

From this our day of rest,
And thus on thee most glorious

We reach the rest remaining
A triple light was given.

To spirits of the blest.
3 p Thou art a cooling fountain cres To Holy Ghost be praises,
In life's dry dreary sand ;

To Father and to Son ; cres From thee, like Pisgah's mountain, f The Church her voice upraises We view our promised land ;

To Thee, blest Three in One.

Amen.

Call the Sabbath a delight.'' IP MY Lord, my Life, was crucified ; 4mf Welcome and dear unto my soul He all the pains did bear ;

Are these sweet feasts of love : cres But in the sweetness of His rest

But what a Sabbath shall I keep,
He makes His servants share.

When I shall rest above !

2mf How sweetly rest Thy saints above, 5mf I bless Thy wise and wondrous love, Who in Thy bosom lie !

Which binds us to be free ; The Church below doth rest in hope Which makes us leave our earthly Of that felicity.

205 There remaineth, therefore, a rest to the people of God."
Imf LORD of the Sabbath, hear our vows No groans to mingle with the songs

On this Thy day, in this Thy house; Which warble from immortal tongues;
And own, as grateful sacrifice,
The songs which from the desert rise. 4mf No rude alarms of raging foes;

No cares to break the long repose; 2 mf Thine earthly Sabbaths, Lord, we love; No midnight shade, no clouded sun, cres But there's a nobler rest above; cres But sacred, high, eternal noon.

To that our labouring souls aspire
With ardent pangs of strong desire. 5mfp long-expected day, begin!

Dawn on these realms of woe and sin! 3 mf No more fatigue, no more distress; dim Fain would we leave this weary road, Nor sin nor hell shall reach the place; p And sleep in death, to rest with God.

Amen.

206 He rose again the third day according to the scriptures."
I mf AWAKE, ye saints, awake, 3 f All hail, triumphant Lord !
And hail the sacred day;

Heaven with hosannas rings;
In loftiest songs of praise

And earth, in humbler strains,

4 f Great King, gird on Thy sword, The Lord of life arose,

Ascend Thy conquering car,
And burst the bars of death,

While justice, power, and love

Maintain the glorious war:
And now He pleads our cause above, This day let sinners own Thy sway,
And reaps the fruit of all His love. And rebels cast their arms away!
