His name, and love, and gracious voice,
Have fix'd my roving heart.

Now, Lord, I would be thine alone,
And wholly live to thee;
But, may I hope that thou wilt own
A worthlefs worm like me?
Yes, though of finners I'm the worst,
I cannot doubt thy will;

For if thou hadft not lov'd me first,
I had refus'd thee ftill.

LXII. Brotherly Love. C. M.
GIVER of concord, Prince of Peace,

Meek, lamb-like Son of God!

Bid our unruly paffions ceafe,

O quench them with thy blood!

O let thy love our hearts confrain,
Jefus, the crucify'd!

What hast thou done our hearts to gain!
Languifh'd, and groan'd, and dy'd !

Us into clofer union draw,

And in our inward parts,

Let kindness fweetly write her law,
Let love command our hearts.

Who would not now pursue the way,
Where Jefu's footsteps shine?
Who would not own the pleating fway
Of charity divine?

O let us find the ancient way,

Our wond'ring foes to move,

And force a frowning world to fay "See how these Chriftians love!

LET party names no more

The chriftian world o'erfpread';

Gentile and Jew, and bond and free,
Are one in Chrift their head.

Among the faints on earth
Let mutual love be found;
Heirs of the fame inheritance,
With mufual bleffings crown'd.
Let envy and ill-will
Be banish'd far away;
Thofe fhould in strictest friendship dwell,
Who the fame Lord obey.

Thus will the church below
Refemble that above,

Where ftreams of pleasure ever flow,
And ev'ry heart is love,

LXIV. Another. L. M.

KINDRED in Chrift, for his dear fake,

A welcome here receive :

May we together now partake
The joys which only he can give.
To you and me by grace 'tis giv'n
To know the Saviour's precious name,
And fhortly we fhall meet in heav'n,
Our hope, our way, our end the fame.
May he, by whofe kind care we meet,
Send his good Spirit from above;
Make our communication fweet,

And caufe our hearts to burn with love.

Forgotten be each worldly theme,
When chriftians meet together thus ;
We only wish to speak of him
Who liv'd, and dy'd, and reigns for us.

We'll talk of all he did, and faid,
And fuffer'd for us here below;
The path he mark'd for us to tread,
And what he's doing for us now.

Thus, as the moments pafs away,
We'll love, and wonder, and adore;
And haften on the glorious day,
When we shall meet to part no more.

LXV. Another. Sevens.

ESU, Lord, we look to thee,
Let us in thy name agree;
Shew thyself the Prince of peace,
Bid all jars for ever cease.

By thy reconciling love,

Ev'ry ftumbling-block remove;
Each to each unite, endear;
Come, and spread thy banner here.

Make us of one heart and mind,
Courteous, pitiful and kind;
Lowly, meek in thought and word
Altogether like our Lord.

Let us each for other care,
Each another's burden bear;
To thy church the pattern give,
Shew how true believers live.

N.

Let us then with joy remove
To thy family above,

On the wings of angels fly,

Shew how true believers die.

SWEE

WEET the time, exceeding sweet,
When the faints together meet;
When the Saviour is the theme,
When they join to fing of him.
Sing we, then, eternal love,
Such as did the Father move;
He beheld the world undone,
Lov'd the world, and gave his Son.
Sing the Son's amazing love;
How he left the realms above,
Took our nature and our place,
Liv'd and dy'd to fave our race.
Sing we too the Spirit's love;
With our wretched hearts he ftrove;
Things of precious Chrift he took,
Gave us hearts and eyes to look,
Sweet the place, exceeding sweet,
Where the faints in glory meet;
Where the Saviour's ftill the theme,
Where they fee, and fing of him.

RY us, O God, and fearch the ground,
Of ev'ry finful heart!

Whate'er of fin in us is found,

O bid it all depart.

B.

Help us to help each other, Lord,
Each other's cross to bear;
Let each his friendly aid afford,
And feel his brother's care.
Help us to build each other up,
Our little stock improve 3
Increase our faith, confirm our hope,
And perfect us in love.

Then, when the mighty work is wrought,
Receive thy ready bride

Give us in heav'n a happy lot,

With all the fanctify'd.

LXVIII. Another. C. M.

BLEST be the dear uniting love,

That will not let us part;

Our bodies may far off remove,
We ftill are join'd in heart.

Join'd in one Spirit to our Head,
Where he appoints we go,
And fill in Jefu's footsteps tread,
And do his work below.

O let us ever walk in him,
And nothing know befide;
Nothing defire, nothing etteem,
But Jefus crucify'd.

Clofer and clofer let us cleave,
To his belov'd embrace;
Expect his fulness to receive,

And grace to answer grace.

Thus let us haften to the day,

Which fall our flesh reftore,

When death fhall all be done away,
And bodies part no more.
