ITALIAN HYMN. 6s & 4s. 1. Come, thou al - mighty King, Help us thy name to sing, Help us to praise: Father! all-glo- ri-ous, O'er all vic-to- ri- ous, Come, and reign o-ver us, An-cient of Days. THUS far the Lord has led me on; Thus far his power prolongs my days; And every evening shall make known Some fresh memorial of his grace. 2 Much of my time has run to waste, And I, perhaps, am near my home; But he forgives my follies past, And gives me strength for days to come. 3 I lay my body down to sleep; Peace is the pillow for my head; While well-appointed angels keep Their watchful stations round my bed. 4 Thus, when the night of deathshall come, My flesh shall rest beneath the ground, And wait thy voice to break my tomb, With sweet salvation in the sound. ΙΟΟ Jer. 3:15. HART. ERE to the world again we go, 2 May the great truths we here have heard, 1. Glory to thee, my God, this night, For all the bless-ings of the light :* 9 103 Keep me, oh, keep me, King of kings! Be-neath thine own al GLORY to thee, my God, this night, 2 Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear Son, 3 Teach me to live, that I may dread The grave as little as my bed: Teach me to die, that so I may Rise glorious at the judgment-day. 4 Oh, let my soul on thee repose, And may sweet sleep mine eyelids close! Sleep, which shall me more vigorous make, To serve my God when I awake. 5 Be thou my guardian, while I sleep, 6 Lord, let my soul forever share, Phil. 4:7. NEWTON. THE peace which God alone reveals, Direct, and keep, and cheer our hearts! 2 And may the holy Three in One, 3 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; 2 MILLIONS within thy courts have met, Vows with their lips to thee they vowed. Soon as the light of morning broke Thy far-spread family awoke, Sabbath, all round the world, to keep. 3 From east to west, the sun surveyed, From north to south, adoring throngs; And still, when evening stretched her shade, The stars came out to hear their songs. 4 And not a prayer, a tear, a sigh, Hath failed this day some suit to gain; To those in trouble thou wert nigh: Not one hath sought thy face in vain. 5 Yet one prayer more!—and be it one, In which both heaven and earth accord: Fulfill thy promise to thy Son; Let all that breathe call Jesus Lord! |
