The Epiphany, or the Manifeftation of Chrift to the Gentiles.

The Collect.

GOD, who by the leading O of a fiar didft manifeft thy only-begotten Son to the Gentiles; Mercifully grant, that we, which know thee now by faith, may after this life have the fruition of thy glorious Godhead, through Jefus Chrift our Lord.

Amen.

The Epiftle. Ephef. iii. 1. OR this caufe I Paul, the prifoner of Jefus Chrift for you Gentiles; if ye have heard of the difpenfation of the grace of God, which is given me to you-ward: how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Chrift,) which in other ages was not made known unto the fons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apoftles and prophets by the Spirit, That the Gentiles thould be fellow-heirs, and of the fame body, and partakers of his promile in Chrift by the Gospel whereof 1 was made a minifter according to the gifts of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. ning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jefus Christ: to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known, by the Church, the manifold wifdom of God, according to the eternal purpofe which he purpofed in Chrift Jefus our Lord; in whom we have boldnefs and accefs with confidence by the faith of him.

The Epifle. Rom. xii. 6. ND the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jefus was there: and both Jefus was called and his difciples to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jefus faith unto him, They have no wine. Jefus faith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet unto the fervants, Whatfoever he faith unto you, do it. And there were fet there fix water-pots of ftone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jefus faith unto them, Fill the water-pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he faith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feaft. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feaft had tafted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was, (but the fervants which drew the water knew,) the governor of the feaft called the bridegroom, and faith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth fet forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worfe: bui thou hast kept the good wine until now. The Epiftle. Col. iii. 12.
