The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost." --St. John xiv. 26.

1 How bright these glorious spirits shine!

Whence all their white array?
How came they to the blissful seats

Of everlasting day?
P 2 Lo! these are they, from sufferings great,

Who came to realms of light ;
And in the Blood of Christ have washed

Those robes which shine so bright.
F 3 Now with triumphal palms they stand

Before the throne on high,
And serve the God they love amidst

The glories of the sky,
F 4 His presence fills each heart with joy,

Tunes every mouth to sing ;
By day, by night, the sacred courts

With glad Hosannas ring.
5 Hunger and thirst are felt no more,

Nor suns with scorching ray ;
God is their Sun, whose cheering beams

Diffuse eternal day.
6 The Lamb which dwells amidst the throne

Shall o'er them still preside,
Feed them with nourishment divine,

And all their footsteps guide.

7 In pastures green He 'll lead His flock

Where living streams appear ;

And God the Lord from every eye cres. Shall wipe off every tear. Amen.

Lord, how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth.Ps. viii. 1.

1 How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds

In a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,

And drives away his fear.

2 It makes the wounded spirit whole,

And calms the troubled breast ; 'Tis manna to the hungry soul,

And to the weary rest.

3 Dear Name! the rock on which I build !

My shield and hiding-place !
My never-failing treasury, filled

With boundless stores of grace !

4 Jesus ! my Shepherd, Brother, Friend,

My Prophet, Priest, and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,

Accept the praise I bring.

5 Weak is the effort of my heart,

And cold my warmest thought ; cres. But when I see Thee as Thou art,

f I'll praise Thee as I ought.

6 Till then I would Thy love proclaim

With every fleeting breath ;
And may the music of Thy Name
Refresh my soul in death! Amen,
