15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice * of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering. LEV. iv. 11, 12, 21: And the skin of the bullock, and all his flesh, with his head, and with his legs, and his inwards, &c. even the whole bullock shall be carry forth without the camp unto a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn him on the wood with fire. And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn him as he burned the first bullock: it is a sin offering for the congregation. do. vi. 30: No sin offering, whereof any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile withal in the holy place, shall be eaten it shall be burnt in the fire. do. ix. 11 : And the flesh and the hide he burnt with fire without the camp. do. xvi. 27: And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, &c. THE GENERAL EPISTLE OF

James.

THIS epistle was written by James the Less, or Younger, so called to distinguish him from James, the son of Zebedee, and brother of John. He was the son of Alpheus, or Cleophas, who married a sister of Mary, the mother of Jesus; and the brother of Judas, or Jude. James the Just, to whom this epistle was formerly attributed, it is now clearly ascertained was the same identical person as James the Less, one of the twelve apostles. He is believed to have suffered martyrdom in the former part of A. D. 62, and to have written this epistle a short time before his death, from Jerusalem, or some part of Judea.

The design of this epistle seems to have been to animate the
