THE following little volume is a compilation. The works which have been chiefly used are the Lives of Christ by Angus, Conder, Farrar, Geikie, and Stalker. Uhlhorn's "Conflict of Christianity with Paganism" has mainly supplied the sketch of the state of the world at the times of the Apostles. Quotations are made from several other authors, which are generally acknowledged. As this is the first Introduction to the New Testament which has been prepared for India, it is largely tentative. If reprinted, some omissions and additions, or other changes, will probably be recommended. Suggestions, addressed to the Secretary of the Madras Tract Society, are earnestly invited.
