husband. Timi ii. 11, 12. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjectim. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp› authority over the man. 1 Tim. iv. 14. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. Tit. ii. 4, 5. SECTION VIII.

1 Pet. ii. 17. (See above.) Rom. xii. 10. 15, 16. Be kindly affectioned one to another in brotherly love, in honour preferring one another. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Phil. ii. 3, 4. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Gal. v. 26. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Luke xxii. 24-26. And there was also a strife among them which should be accounted the greatest. And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. Heb. xii. 14. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

SECTION IX.

Ephes. vi. 1-3. Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honour thy father, and thy

mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long on the earth. 1 Kings viii. 25. Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their ways, that they walk before me as thou hast walked.
