xliii. 3. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of lan guishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. Job xxxvi. 15. He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression. Psal. xxv. 18. Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. Psal. cxix. 153. Consider mine affliction, and deliver me; for I do not forget thy law. 2 Cor. iv. 17. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Psal. xxxi. 7. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities. Psal. xciv. 12, 13. Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law; that thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. Mark xi. 22-24. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God; For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (See section 4.) Jude 20, 21. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life, Jam. i. 6. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Rom. v. 2. By whom also we have access by faith unto this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Heb. xi. 6. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Matt, vii. 7, 8. 11. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your

Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

SECTION VII.

Ephes. v. 20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Psal. cvii. 22. And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing. Psal. cxxxix. 13-16. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Psal. ciii. 2, 3. (See above.) 1 Cor. xv. 53, 54. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. Psal. cxxi. 8. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth, and even for evermore. Job vii. 20, 21. I have sinned: what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? Why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself? and why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? For now shall I sleep in the dust; thou shalt seek me in the morning but I shall not be. 1 Tim. iv. 3, 4. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them that believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving. Ephes. i. 3—7. 16, 17. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spirituál blessings in heavenly places in Christ; according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and with

out blame before him in love; having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. 1 Pet. ii. 3, 4. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance, incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. 2 Cor. ii. 14. Now, thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 2 Cor. ix. 15. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. Acts xvii. 28. For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also of his offspring. Jam. i. 17. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Eccles. iii. 13. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God, Rom. v. 15-18. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead; much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness, shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Psal. xxvi. 7. That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving; and tell

of all thy wonderous works. Col. ii. 7. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught; abounding therein with thanksgiving. 2 Cor. ix. 12. For the administration of this service not only supplieth the wants of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God. Rev. vii. 12. Saying, Amen: blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto one our God for ever and ever. Amen.

SECTION VIII.

1 Tim. ii, 1. I exhort therefore, that, first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men. Jam. v. 16. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 1 John v. 16. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and hẻ shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. Matt. xxiii. 8. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

SECTION IX.

1 Tim. i. 17. Now unto the king eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. Psal. Ivi. 12. Thy vows are upon me, O God; I will render praises unto thee. Psal. cl. 1, 2. 6. Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts praise him according to his excellent greatness. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Psal. xxxiv. 1. I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psal. øxi. 1. Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with

my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. Psal. civ. 1. 24. Bless the Lord O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name. O Lord how manifold are thy works, in wisdom hast thou made them all the earth is full of thy riches. Ephes. v. 19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. Jer. xxxiii. 8, 9. And I will cleanse them from all their ini. quity whereby they have sinned against me: and I will pardon all their iniquities whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good which I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. Job xxxviii. 6, 7. Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof? When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Psal. xviii. 49. Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name. Psal. xxx. 4. Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. Psal. li. 14. Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. Isai. xxiv. 14. They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the Lord, they shall cry aloud from the sea. Acts xvi. 25. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. Jam. v. 13. (See above.) Luke i. 63. And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake and praised God. Psal. 1. 23. Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. Psal. cxxxv. 3.
