S. MATTHEW. The reward of the righteous.

18 ¶ Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a 19 When any one heareth the word of parable spake he not unto them: the kingdom, and understandeth it not, 35 That it might be fulfilled which was then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open away that which was sown in his heart. my mouth in parables; I will utter things This is he which received seed by the which have been kept secret from the way-side. foundation of the world. 20 But he that received the seed into 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, stony places, the same is he that heareth and went into the house: and his disciples the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; came unto him, saying, Declare unto us 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but the parable of the tares of the field. dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of bis kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

44 Again, The kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which 27 So the servants of the householder when a man hath found, he bideth, and for came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou joy thereof goeth and selleth all that be sow good seed in thy field? from whence hath, and buyeth that field.

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47 T Again, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

T that time Herod the Tetrarch heard

A of the fame of Jesus,

2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of 4 For John said unto him, It is not law- the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind ful for thee to have her. was contrary.

5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

6 But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried ou for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I;

9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

13 TWhen Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place 33 Then they that were in the ship apart: and when the people had heard came and worshipped him, saying, Of a thereof, they followed him on foot out of truth thou art the Son of God. 34 And when they were gone over,

CHAP. XV. THE THEN came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended after they heard this saying?

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

25 For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake, shall find it.

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I, the Son of man,am?

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is 17 And Jesus answered and said unto my beloved Son, in whom I am well him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for pleased: hear ye him. flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto 6 And when the disciples heard it, they thee, but my Father which is in heaven. fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou 7 And Jesus came and touched them, art Peter, and upon this rock I will build and said, Arise, and be not afraid. my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

14 And when they were come to the inultitude, there came to him a certain man kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is lunatic, and sore vexed, for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.

5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me.
