Christ stilleth the tempest.

CHAP. IX.

23 ¶ And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

He calls Matthew.

7 And he arose, and departed to his house. 8 But when the multitude saw it, they 24 And behold, there arose a great tem- marvelled, and glorified God, which had 9 And as Jesus passed forth from pest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was given such power unto men. Covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 25 And his disciples came to him, and thence, he saw a man named Matthew, saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we sitting at the receipt of custom: and he perish.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye and followed him. 10 ¶ And it came to pass, as Jesus sat fearful, Oye of little faith? 12 And when ye come into a house, salute it.

18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak, for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

20 ¶ Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works

23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

The paraole of the sower.

CHAP. XIII.

HE same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea-side.

2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundred-fold. some sixty-fold, some thirty-fold.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and see45 Then goeth he, and taketh with him- ing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: self seven other spirits more wicked than 15 For this people's heart is waxed himself, and they enter in and dwell there: gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and the last state of that man is worse than and their eyes they have closed; lest at the first. Even so shall it be also unto this any time they should see with their eyes, wicked generation. and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

46 ¶ While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17 For, verily,I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired 48 But he answered and said unto him to see those things which ye see, and that told him, Who is my mother? and have not seen them; and to hear those who are my brethren? things which ye hear, and have not heard

49 And he stretched forth his hand to-them.
