The altar of testimony 20 ¶ And the families of the children of Kohath, have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you: the Levites which remained of the children of 3 Ye have not left your brethren these many Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out days unto this day, but have kept the charge of of the tribe of Ephraim. the commandment of the LORD your God. 21 For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs, 22 And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs; four cities. 23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs, 24Aijalon with her suburbs, Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; four cities. 25 And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and Gath-rimmon, with her suburbs; two cities. 26 All the cities were ten with their suburbs, for the families of the children of Kohath that remained. 4 And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan." 5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God. and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul.. 6 So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away; and Mahanaim with her suburbs, 39 Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all. 40 So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities. 41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs. 11 And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel. 12 And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them. 13 And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest. 14 And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was a head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel. 15 And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half42 These cities were every one with their sub-tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and urbs round about them. Thus were all these cities. 43 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers: and they possessed it, and dwelt therein. 44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. they spake with them, saying, 16 Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that yo have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD? 17 Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation 45 There failed not aught of any good thing CHAP. XXII. The two tribes and a half dismissed. So Simeon went with him. 6 But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes. 7 And Adoni-bezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table; as ! have done, so God hath requited me. CHAP. And all that stood by him went out from him. 20 And Ehud came unto him, and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone: and Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. 21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into 22 And the haft also went in after the blade: and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. 22 That through them I may prove Israel, whe-his belly: The nations left to prove Israel. 23 Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.
