These things did these three mighty men.

Now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

And David said, 14 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be for his mercies are great; and let me not fall into the hand of man.

15 So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.

16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thy hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing-place of Araunah the Jebusite.

17 And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly but these sheep, what have they done? Let thy nand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

22 And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt-sacrifice, and threshing-instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

23 All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee. 24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt-offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

39 And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath: and they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants be in Gath. 40 And Shimei arose and saddled his ass, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went and brought his servants from Gath. 41 Audit was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again. 42 And the king sent and called for Shinei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to swear by 23 Then king Solomon sware by the LORD, say-the LORD, and protested unto thee, saying, Know Ing, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkhave not spoken this word against his own life. est abroad any whither, that thou shalt surely 24 Now therefore, as the LORDliveth, which hath die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I established me, and set me on the throne of Davil have heard is good. my father, and who hath made mic a house, as he 43 Why then hast thou not kept the oath of promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day. the LORD, and the commandment that I have 25 And king Solomon sent by the hand of Be-charged thee with? naiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.

But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. 27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
