FIRST LINES.

O Lord, be with us when we sail
O Lord of heaven, and earth, and sea.
O Lord our God, arise...

O love Divine! how sweet Thou art..
O love Divine! that stooped to share
O love that casts out fear..

O love that will not let me go

O mean may seem this house of clay
O North, with all thy vales of green
O Paradise! O Paradise...

O sacred head now wounded ..........

O Saviour, bless us ere we go
O Saviour, I have nought to plead

O Saviour, precious Saviour

O Saviour, where shall guilty man

O Son of God, our Captain of Salvation

O Spirit of the living God..

O that the Lord's salvation

O the bitter shame and sorrow

O Thou, by long experience tried..

O Thou, from whom all goodness flows.

O Thou that on the billow

O Thou who camest from above
O timely happy, timely wise
O what can little hands do

O where are the reapers that garner in.
O where shall rest be found....

O Word of God incarnate.

O worship the King, all glorious above
Object of my first desire

O'er those gloomy hills of darkness.
Oh come and mourn with me awhile.
Oh, fair the gleams of glory..

Oh, for the peace that floweth as a river
Oh, let him whose sorrow.......

Oh, safe to the Rock that is higher than I
Oh what, if we are Christ's

On the shore of Galilee

Once in royal David's city

One is kind above all others

One sweetly solemn thought

One there is, above all others..

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war
Our blessed bond of union

Our blest Redeemer, ere He breathed..
Our children, Lord, in faith and prayer..
Our day of praise is done.....

Part in peace! Cheist's life was peace
Pass me not, O gentle Saviour

Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world
Pleasant are Thy courts above
Poor and needy though I be

Pour out Thy Spirit from on high

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven
Praise the Lord! ye heavens adore Him

Praise ye Jehovah! praise the Lord most holy

Quiet, Lord, my froward heart

Rejoice and be glad! The Redeemer has come

Rejoice, the Lord is King.....

Rescue the perishing

Rest of the weary.

Return, O wanderer, to thy home

Revive Thy work, O Lord.

Ride on, ride on in majesty.

Rise my soul, thy God directs thee

Rock of Ages, cleft for me...
Safe in the arms of Jesus....

FIRST LINES.

Safely, safely gathered in

Safely through another week.

Saviour, again to Thy dear name we raise Saviour, blessed Saviour

Saviour, breathe an evening blessing

Saviour, like a Shepherd lead us

Saviour, more than life to me

Saviour, now the day is ending.

Saviour, teach me day by day..
Saviour, Thy dying love..
Saviour, when in dust to Thee
Saviour who Thy flock art feeding
See Israel's gentle Shepherd stands
See the shining dewdrops
Send Thou, O Lord, to every place
Shall we grow weary in our watch
Shine Thou upon us, Lord
Simply trusting every day....

Since thy Father's arm sustains thee

Sinful, sighing to be blest.
Sing them over again to me
Sing to the Lord in joyful strains

Sleep thy last sleep

Softly now the light of day
Soldiers of Christ! arise

Sometimes a light surprises.

Son of Man, to Thee I cry

Songs of praise the angels sang

Sovereign grace! o'er sin abounding
Sow the seed beside all waters
Sowing in the morning.

Speed Thy servants, Saviour, speed them
Spirit Divine! attend our prayers
Spirit, strength of all the weak....

Spread, O spread, Thou mighty word.

Stand up and bless the Lord
Stand up for Jesus, Christian, stand
Stand up! Stand up for Jesus
Standing at the portal

Standing by a purpose true....

Star of peace to wanderers weary
Still on the homeward journey
Still with Thee, O my God
Summer suns are glowing

Sun of my soul, Thou Saviour dear
Supreme in wisdom as in power
Sweet is the solemn voice that calls.
Sweet the moments, rich in blessing

Sweet was the hour, O Lord, to Thee
Sweeter sounds than music knows

Take comfort, Christians, when your friends Take me, O my Father! take me

Take my life, and let it be

[blocks in formation]

Take the name of Jesus with you... Take up thy cross,' the Saviour said

Tell me the old, old story ...

Ten thousand times ten thousand

Tender Shepherd, Thou hast stilled..

Thou who didst on Calvary bleed.

Thou, whose Almighty word

Thow whose unmeasured temple stands..
Though troubles assail

Through all the changing scenes of life.
Through the day Thy love has spared us
Through the night of doubt and sorrow

Thy life was given for me....
Thy way, not mine, O Lord..
'Till He come-O let the words
"Tis from the mercy of our God...
To Thee, O Comforter Divine....

FIRST LINES.

The God of Abraham praise

The God of glory down to men

The great Physician now is near .....
The Head that once was crowned with thorns
The King of love my Shepherd is
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee
The Lord is King! lift up thy voice.
The Lord keep watch between us.

The Lord will come, the earth shall quake
The morning bright with rosy light.
The morning light is breaking
The race that long in darkness pined.
The radiant morn hath passed away
The sands of time are sinking
The Son of God goes forth to war..
The spacious firmament on high....
The Spirit breathes upon the Word
The strife is o'er, the battle done...

The sun declines; o'er land and sea..
The sun is sinking fast......

The voice that breathed o'er Eden
The wise may bring their learning..
The world is very evil..

There came a little child to earth long ago

There is a better world, they say

There is a blessed home..

There is a city bright

There is a fountain filled with blood

There is a green hill far away.

There is a happy land..

There is a holy sacrifice..

There is a land of pure delight

There is a name I love to hear

There is no night in heaven

There is life for a look

There is no name so sweet on earth
There is no sorrow, Lord, too light

There were ninety and nine that safely lay.
There's a Friend for little children...

There's a wideness in God's mercy

Thine arm, O Lord, in days of old..
Thine forever! God of love

This is the day of light.............

Those eternal bowers......

Thou art coming, O my Saviour
Thou art gone up on high

Thou art the Way: to Thee alone
Thou didst leave Thy throne

Thou gracious God, whose mercy lends
Thou hidden love of God, whose height

Thou judge of quick and dead

Thou, Lord, art God alone.....

FIRST LINES.

To Thee, O dear, dear Saviour .......
To Thee our God we fly..

To-day the Saviour calls............

True-hearted, whole-hearted, faithful, and loyal "Twas on that night, when doomed to know

Vain are the hopes the sons of men..

Wake, awake, for night is flying

We are but little children weak

We are the Lord's: His all-sufficient merit.
We give Thee but Thine own.......
We have heard a joyful sound.........
We love the place, O God...

We may not climb the heavenly steeps.
We plough the fields and scatter

We praise Thee, O God! for the Son of Thy lore.... We praise Thee, O God, we acknowledge Thee to be the Lord

We sing the praise of Him who died

We speak of the realms of the blest
Weary of earth and laden with my sin
Weary of wandering from my God
What a Friend we have in Jesus
What grace, O Lord, and beauty shone.

What though no flowers the fig-tree clothe..
Whate'er my God ordains is right

When all Thy mercles, O my God...
When He cometh, when He cometh
When, His salvation bringing.....
When I survey life's varied scene...
When I survey the wondrous cross..
When morning gilds the skies

When mothers of Salem their children brought to
Jesus......

When on my day of life the night is falling.
When the dark waves round us roll

When the day of toil is done

When the weary, seeking rest
When this passing world is done

Where high the heavenly temple stands
While with ceaseless course the sun
Whither, pilgrims, are you going.
Who are these like stars appearing..

Who hath believed! Who hath believed
Who is He in yonder stall

Who is on the Lord's side..

Who is this that comes from Edom.

Whosoever heareth, shout, shout the sound
Why should I fear the darkest hour
Winter reigneth o'er the land
Work, for the night is coming

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness

Ye heavens, send forth your song of praise
Ye servants of the Lord..

Ye who the name of Jesus bear....

Yet there is room......

Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin.
You now must hear my voice no more
Your harps, ye trembling saints

Zion's King shall reign victorious...........
