2 Let hallelujahs to the skies, With ocean's everlasting sound, The voice of many waters, rise, Day without night, as time goes round. 3 Come from the East with gifts, ye kings, With gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. Where'er the morning spreads her wings, Let man to God his vows prefer.
4 Come from the West, the bond, the free; His easy service make your choice. Ye isles of the Pacific sea,
Like halcyon-nests, in God rejoice.
5 Come from the South; through desert sands A highway for the Lord prepare. Let Ethiopia stretch her hands, And Lybia pour her soul in prayer.
6 Come from the North; let Europe raise In all her languages one song:
Give God the glory, power, and praise That to His holy name belong.
7 For He hath bowed the heavens above, And at His feet the mountains flowed: He came, but not in wrath,-in love, To make with men His pure abode. 8 With smiles, O earth! thy Maker meet; Nations, before your Saviour fall: Redemption is in Him complete; The gospel now is preached to all.
Lev. XXV. 9. 148th M. TOPLADY.
BLOW ye the trumpet, blow:
The gladly solemn sound
Let all the nations know,
To earth's remotest bound.
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransomed sinners, home.
Exalt the Lamb of God, The all-atoning Lamb: Redemption by His blood
Through all the world proclaim, The year of Jubilee is come; Return, ye ransomed sinners, home. Ye who have sold for nought Your heritage above, Shall have it back unbought, The gift of Jesus' love.
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransomed sinners, home.
Ye slaves of sin and hell,
Your liberty receive; And safe in Jesus dwell,
And bless'd in Jesus live. The year of Jubilee is come; Return, ye ransomed sinners, home. The gospel trumpet hear,
The news of heavenly grace: Ye happy souls, draw near; Behold your Saviour's face. The year of Jubilee is come; Return, ye ransomed sinners, home. Jesus, our great High Priest, Hath full atonement made: Ye weary spirits, rest;
Ye mourning souls, be glad : The year of Jubilee is come; Return, ye ransomed sinners, home.
EN of God, go take your stations;
MEN Darkness reigns throughout the earth:
Go proclaim among the nations Joyful news of heavenly birth. Bear the tidings
Of the Saviour's matchless worth.
2 Of His gospel not ashamed, As the power of God to save, Go where Christ was never named: Publish freedom to the slave; Blessed freedom,
Such as Zion's children have.
3 When exposed to fearful dangers, Jesus will His own defend: Borne afar 'midst foes and strangers, Jesus will appear your friend; And His presence
Shall be with you to the end.
849 Acts xviii. 9, 10. C. M.
(0, and the Saviour's grace proclaim,
G Ye favoured men of God:
Go publish, through Immanuel's name, Salvation bought with blood.
2 What though your arduous track may lie Through regions dark as death ;- What though, your faith and zeal to try, Perils beset your path;-
3 Yet with determined courage go, And armed with power divine: Your God will needful strength bestow, And on your labours shine.
4 He who has called you to the war Will recompense your pains: Before Messiah's conquering car Shall mountains sink to plains.
5 Shrink not, though earth and hell oppose, But plead your Master's cause; Assured that e'en your mightiest foes Shall bow before His cross.
1G To nations plunged in shades of night.
O, messenger of peace and love,
Like angels sent from fields above, Be thine to shed celestial light. 2 On barren rock and desert isle, Go, bid the Rose of Sharon bloom, Till arid wastes around thee smile, Rich as the dews from morning's womb. 3 Go, bid the bright and morning Star From Bethlehem's plains resplendent shine,
And, piercing through the gloom afar, Shed heavenly light and love divine.
4 From North to South, from East to West, Messiah yet shall reign supreme: His name by every tongue confess'd; His praise, the universal theme.
5 Then faint not in the day of toil, When harvest waits the reaper's hand. Go, gather in the glorious spoil, And joyous in His presence stand. 6 Thy love a rich reward shall find, From Him who sits enthroned on high; For they who turn the erring mind Shall shine like stars above the sky.
Mark xvi. 15.
G Like the beams of morning, fly!
ye messengers of God;
Take the wonder-working rod; Wave the Banner-Cross on high.
2 Where the aspirant minaret Gleams along the morning skies, Wave it till the crescent set, And the "Star of Jacob" rise.
3 Go to many a tropic isle, In the bosom of the deep, Where the skies for ever smile, And the oppressed for ever weep. 4 O'er the negro's night of care Pour the living light of heaven: Chase away his wild despair; Bid him hope to be forgiven. 5 Where the golden gates of day Open on the palmy East,
Wide the bleeding Cross display, Spread the gospel's richest feast. 6 Sound aloud Jehovah's call; Visit every soil and sea,
Preach the Cross of Christ to all, Christ whose love is full and free.
ARK! what mean those lamentations,
H Rolling sadly through the sky ?
"Tis the cry of heathen nations,
"Come and help us, or we die."
2 Hear the heathens' sad complaining; Christians, hear their dying cry: And, the love of Christ constraining, Join to help them ere they die.
why should Israel's sons, once bless'd,
Disowned of heaven, by man oppress'd, Outcasts from Zion's hallowed ground?
