Praise the Lord from the earth, Fire and hail, snow and vapour; Stormy wind, fulfilling his word: Fruitful trees and all cedars: Creeping things and flying fowl: Old men and children: Let them praise the name of the Lord; His glory is above the earth and heaven. And he hath lifted up the horn of his people, The praise of all his saints; Even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. PRAISE YE THE LORD. PSALM CXLIX. Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, And his praise in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in him that made him : Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: He will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints exult in glory: Let them sing for joy upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth. SELECTIONS. THE BIRTH OF JESUS THE CHRIST. Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, And princes shall rule in judgement. And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; As rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. Then judgement shall dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness shall abide in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; And the effect of righteousness quietness and confidence for ever. The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad; And the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing; The glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon: They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing: For in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the glowing sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. |
