Appii Forum is said to have been about 50 miles, and the Three Taverns about 30 miles, south of Rome. What effect had the arrival of these brethren, on the mind of Paul?

17 After some time, what did Paul do, in relation to the Jews resident in Rome? On their meeting, he states the occasion of his appearing among them-what does he assure them, relative to his conduct and his imprisonment?

19 And why did they not set Paul at liberty? Consequently, what was he compelled to do? Yet what did he assure the Jews he had no intention of doing?

What did he mean by this? ANS. That his imprisonment was consequence of his hope in the Meah; a hope common to the Jewish nation, only that they did not allow that Jesus was that Messiah.
