4 O Thou who givest life and breath, We seek Thy grace alone,
In childhood, manhood, age, and death, To keep us still Thine own.
FOR HEATHEN CHILDREN.
1 GOD of love! before Thee now Help us all in love to bow; As the dews on Hermon fall, Let Thy blessing rest on all. 2 Let it soften every breast, Hush ungentle thoughts to rest, Till we feel ourselves to be Children of one family;
3 Children who can look above For a heavenly Father's love; Who shall meet, life's journey past, In that Father's house at last. 4 But while thankfully we stand Round Thy footstool hand in hand, Yet one humble, earnest plea, Father, we would bring to Thee:
5 Far across the ocean wave Brethren, sisters too, we have: But they have not heard of Thee; Wilt Thou not their Father be?
6 Let them hear the Shepherd's voice, And beneath His care rejoice; And together let them come
To the fold while yet there's room.
THE HEAVENLY JERUSALEM.
1 JERUSALEM, my happy home,- Name ever dear to me; When shall my conflicts have an end, When shall I rest in thee?
2 O when, thou city of my God, Shall I thy courts ascend,
Where joy and peace for ever dwell, And Sabbaths never end?
3 Why should I shrink at pain and woe, Or feel at death dismay, With Canaan's land of rest in view, And realms of endless day.
4 Apostles, martyrs, prophets there, Around my Saviour stand;
And soon my friends, redeem'd below, Will join the glorious band.
5 Jerusalem, my happy home,
My soul still pants for thee;
Then shall my conflicts have an end, When I thy joys shall see.
CHRIST OUR SHEPHERD.
1 SHEPHERD of Thy little flock, Lead me to the shadowy rock, Where the richest pasture grows, Where the living water flows.
that pure and silent stream, Shelter'd from the scorching beam, Shepherd, Saviour, Guardian, Guide, Keep me ever near Thy side.
PRAISE TO JESUS.
1 LET us sing with one accord Praise to Jesus Christ our Lord: He is worthy whom we praise, Hearts and voices let us raise- He hath made us try His power, He hath kept us till this hour, He redeems us from the grave, He who died now lives to save. 2 What He bids us, let us do, Where He leads us, let us go ; As He loves us, let us love All below, and all above.
3 Angels praise Him, so will we, Sinful children though we be;
Poor and weak, we'll sing the more, Jesus loves the weak and poor.
4 Dear to Him is childhood's prayer, Children's hearts to Him are dear; Heart and voice, let all be given : All will find the way to heaven.
THE LAMB OF GOD.
1 I LAY my sins on Jesus,- The spotless Lamb of God; He bears them all, and frees us From the accursed load.
I bring my guilt to Jesus,
To wash my crimson stains White in his blood most precious, Till not a spot remains.
2 I lay my wants on Jesus ;- All fulness dwells in Him, He heals all my diseases, He doth my soul redeem. I lay my griefs on Jesus,
My burdens and my cares; He from them all releases,-
He all my sorrows shares.
3 I rest my soul on Jesus,- This weary soul of mine; His right hand me embraces, I on his breast recline.
I love the name of Jesus, Immanuel, Christ, the Lord! Like fragrance on the breezes, His name abroad is pour❜d. 4 I long to be like Jesus- Meek, loving, lowly, mild; I long to be like Jesus- The Father's holy child. I long to be with Jesus, Amid the heavenly throng, To sing with saints His praises, To learn the angels' song.
THY WILL BE DONE.
1 My God and Father! while I stray Far from my home, in life's rough way, O! teach me from my heart to say,
"Thy will be done!"
2 Though dark my path and sad my lot, Let me "be still" and murmur not; And ever pray, as Thou hast taught,
Thy will be done!"
3 What though in lonely grief I sigh For friends beloved, no longer nigh, Submissive still would be my cry,
