Evangelist's Day.

4 Lo! Jesus, who invites,

Declares, "I quickly come:"
Lord, even so! I wait thy hour:
Jesus, my Saviour, Come!

Innocents' Day.

Little ones in heaven.

6-8's.

Prov. viii, 17. Mark X, 14.

1 YES, there are little ones in heaven,
Children like us around the throne,
To whom the King of kings hath given
A living glory like his own:

Jesus! thy grace, so rich and free, Hath suffer'd them to come to Thee. 2 Oh! let us think of them to-day

Their sweet and everlasting song-
And hope to sing as loud as they
In the same holy heaven ere long:
Jesus! may this our portion be!
Oh! suffer us to come to Thee!
3[Those blessed children in the sky

Went from this sad and sinful earth:
How were their spirits raised so high
Above their low estate by birth?
They came to Christ, and so will we:
Lord! suffer us to come to Thee!]

Day.

4[To come with humbleness of mind,
With simple faith, and earnest prayer,
To seek thy precious cross, and find
Peace, pardon, joy, salvation, there:
Oh! set our sin-bound spirits free,
And suffer us to come to Thee!]

5 To come, while we are young and gay, While life, and joy, and hope, run high; To come, in sorrow's gloomiest day;

To come, when death itself is nigh:
Lord! in that day our guardian be,
And suffer us to come to Thee!

Children singing in glory.

Matt. xviii, 10. Rev. vii, 18, 14.

1 AROUND the throne of God in heav'n
Thousands of children stand;

Children, whose sins are all forgiv'n;
A holy, happy band:

Singing glory, glory, glory.

2[In flowing robes of spotless white
See every one array'd;
Dwelling in everlasting light,/
And joys that never fade:

Singing glory, glory, glory.]

Day.

3 Once they were little ones like you,
And liv'd on earth below,

And could not praise, as now they do,
The Lord who lov'd them so:

Singing glory, glory, glory.

4 What brought them to that world above-
That heav'n so bright and fair-
Where all is peace, and joy, and love?
How came those children there?
Singing glory, glory, glory.

5 Because the Saviour shed his blood
To wash away their sin;
Bathed in that pure and precious flood,
Behold them white and clean:

Singing glory, glory, glory.

6[On earth they sought their Saviour's grace;
On earth they lov'd his name:
So now in heav'n they see his face,
And stand before the Lamb:

Singing glory, glory, glory.]

Birth of Christ.

Isa. ix, 6. Luke ii, 16, 18.

1 CHRIST is born, go tell the story,

Tell the nations of his birth:
Tell them that the Lord of Glory

8.7.4.

Comes from heaven to dwell on earth:
Let the tidings

Fill the world with sacred mirth!

2 See He lies in yonder manger;
Prince of Life his title is:

'Midst his own, and yet a stranger;
All things seen and unseen his:
Yet neglected:

Wonder, O ye heavens, at this!
3 See fulfill'd prophetic vision-
Unto us a child is born-
Though an object of derision,

Though the theme of human scorn,
Yet his people

Hail his birth, and cease to mourn.
4 Hail Immanuel! Child of promise!
Lord of all, in humble guise!
Long detain'd, and absent from us,
Come at length to bless our eyes:
Hail Immanuel!

God the Saviour, only wise!

Christmas.

6-8's.

Patient trust in God.

Psalm xxxvii, 5. Isa. xxxvii, 14. 1 Pet. v, 7.

1 LEAVE God to order all thy ways, And hope in Him whate'er betide; Thou❜lt find Him in the evil days

Thy all-sufficient strength and guide: Who trusts in God's unchanging love, Builds on the rock that nought can move.

2 What can these anxious cares availThese never-ceasing moans and sighs? What can it help us to bewail

Each painful moment as it flies?
Our cross and trials do but press
The heavier for our bitterness.

3 Only thy restless heart keep still,

And wait in cheerful hope; content
To take whate'er his gracious will,

His all-discerning love, hath sent:
Nor doubt our inmost wants are known
To Him, who chose us for his own.
