GOD Holy Spirit, be for ever blest, ?
That thou to us Christ's death dost

2 What of the Father and the Son we Have we thee, we're well supply'd
know With good gifts and graces.
To thy divine instructions all we owe,

That Jesus Christ, who death for us

3 Thanks for revealing to us the Lamb

Proceeding from above,
Thou God of peace
2 Thou art the only Comforter
In all our soul's distress;
Thou showest us our unbelief,
And Christ's redeeming grace.
3 Thou dost thy sanctifying gifts
Unto the church impart;
Writest God's holy, precious law
On each believer's heart.
4 Thy holy unction pow'r affords
The gospel to proclaim:
By thee enabled, we set forth
Salvation in Christ's name.
5 Assist and strengthen us, O Lord! SPIRIT of truth, come down,
Thou know'st we all are frail :
Grant, neither Satan, world, nor flesh,
May o'er Christ's flock prevail.
6 Cause all disharmony and strife
In Christendom to cease:
And give to all the flocks of Christ That each may clearly see,
Love, union, truth, and peace.
His merits glorify,
6 Vanquish our lusts, oar pride re
move, COME, blessed Spirit, gracious Lord, Take out the heart of stone; Thy pow'r to us make known;
Show us the Father's boundless love, Strike with the hammer of thy word,
The merits of the Son. And break each heart of stone.
7 The Father sent his Son to die; 2. Give us ourselves, and Christ, to The willing Son obey'd; know
The witness Thou, to ratify
The purchase Christ hath made.
T. 14 3 Convince us first of unbelief, COME, Holy Spirit, on us breathe, And freely then release;
With all thy quick’ning pow'rs; Fill ev'ry soul with sacred grief, Kindle our love, confirm our faith, And then witlr sacred peace.
Warm these cold hearts of our's. 4. Show us our poverty, relieve

BREATHÉ on these bones so dry,
and dead, Descending from above,
God Holy Ghost! thy influence shed,
In all our hearts abroad:
Point out the place, where grace
abounds; 2 Thou comfortest the heavy heart,
Direct us to the bleeding wounds By sin and grief opprest;
Of Jesus, our incarnate God. Thou to the dead dost life impart,
2 Convince us that the Lamb was And to the weary, rest.
slain: 3 Thysweet communion charms the soul For us, and to our minds explain
And gives true peace and joy; The myst'ry of the cross : Which Satan's pow'r can ne'er control, Let us our dear Redeemer see, Nor all his wiles destroy.
And serve and love him fervently,
To confidence that's vain :
T. 9o. Who love the Lamb once slain.
O That the Comforter would come! 5 Breathe comfort where distress a Nor visit as a transient Guest, bounds,
But fix in me his constant home,
The temple of th' in-dwelling God.
2 Come, Holy Ghost, my soul inspire,
Christ's flock, and us to bliss conductest,
Who noblest gifts to grant didst deign A pledge that I'm an heir of heav'n. To th' apostles, thine anointed,
By thee for that great work appointed 3 Grant me th' indisputable seal, To teach, reprove and comfort men,

XIII. Of God's Call of Grace to the unconverted Sinner.
15 « Tho' then unborn, tho' not in
person there, Teach us, O Lord! the cross's " Yet in that act of
