5 Among the number thou wilt bless,
Cover us with thy righteousness:
Let thine our wedding garment be,
When we afcend to fup with thee.

6 Left (while we here 'midft mortals stay)
The creature draw our heart away,
O bleffed Shepherd, closely join!
Our hearts, and wand'ring fouls to thine..

7 Still let the voice behind us fay
(If e'er we unadvised stray)

This is the path; and we therein
Will walk, till thee our eyes have seen.

8 Make us at all times on our guard,
For trials, and for death prepar'd:
Ready to leave our all below,
Husbands, and wives, and children too..

9 Nor may these fouls in marriage giv❜n,
Forget their native country, heav'n;
Where, pure as angels, all fhall feaft,
One only bride! for Jefus dreft.

10 The married there fhall virgins be,
Adorn'd with ceaseless chastity:

There ev'ry child shall share the throne,.
O may my happy foul be one!

CCCXCVIII.

Lo

JUDGMENT.

O he cometh! countless trumpets,
Blow before the bloody fign,
'Midst ten thousand faints and angels,
See the Crucified shine.

Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!

Welcome, welcome, bleeding Lamb!"

2 Now his merit, by the harpers,
Thro' th' eternal deep refounds:
Now refplendent fhine his nail-prints,
Ev'ry eye fhall fee his wounds;.
They who pierc'd him,
They who pierc'd him,
They who pierc'd him,
Shall, at his appearing, wail.

3 Ev'ry island, fea, and mountain,
Heav'n and earth, shall flee away;
All, who hate him, muft, afhamed,
Hear the trump proclaim the day.
Come to judgment,

Come to judgment,

Come to judgment,

Stand before the Son of Man.

HYM N CCCXCIX.-L. M.

LET not fo great a diftance be,

My Lord, betwixt my foul and thee;
Tho' I have caus'd it, kindly ftoop,
And make thou all my breaches

2 I cannot bear to live unless
Thy gracious presence I poffefs;
I count myself a nether hell
If thou refuse with me to dwell.

up.

I rather chufe to hide my head
Within the grave's defir'd fhade,
Than live, if thee I may not prove,
Each day, and hour, and minute, love.

4 I rather would that all my friends,
And ev'ry gift thy Father fends,
Were taken far away, than find
Thee, O my Saviour, feem unkind.

5 The greatest forrows man can bear,
I'll welcome with a heart fincere,
If thou wilt my companion be,
And let me daily talk with thee.

1 'TIS

CCCC.-L. M.

IS ftrange, and yet 'tis true I ftray,
And stumble in the straitest way;
I need our Saviour me to keep,
And lead me daily step by step.

2 I'm glad I know my need, for I
Am happy in his company;
When he is with me I go well,
But if he hides I wander ftill.

3

Other

poor finners not reftor'd To be familiar with my Lord,

Are far from happy; well they may,
When always out of mercy's way.

4 And those who have enjoy'd the light,
Who knew the Lamb and walked right;
Ev'n these, if he be absent, err,

And faint, and fall, and fin, and fear.

5 This by experience I am taught,
That when I fee myself in fault
I look to Jefus, and he fees
And fave me from my miferies.

6 I feel how I to fin am prone,
And fo I quiet fit me down
At Jefu's feet; and there I learn
When to go forward, when to turn.

[blocks in formation]

W How rightly this is charg'd on me,

HEN I'm in bondage, then I fee

Thou haft thyfelf deftroy'd;

So when my Saviour's love I view,
And freedom have, I fee 'tis true
Thy help is in thy God.

2 In ev'ry change of mind and frame
I dare not thee, my Master, blame,
I know myfelf's in fault;
Thou art the fame, tho' I decay,
And change and turn ten times a day;
I know thou changest not.

8 A Saviour always thee I prove,
For ever full of grace and love,
Whene'er my fin I fee;

Tho' I myself in darkness lead,
And fill my foul with guilt and need,
Thou always fet'ft me free.

4 I find my help and strength art thou;
I fhould far from thee daily go,
But thou in thy dear hand
Preferv'ft me ftill, O ftill me keep
Among thy chofen fellowship,
I'm in Canaan's land.
