Q. Can nothing happen without his Providence?

A. No, Matth. x. 29, 30. Are not two-Sparrows fold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very Hairs of your Head are all numbred. Prov. xvi. 33. The tot 'is cast into the lap ; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord. Exod. xxi. 13. And if a Man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand, then I will appoint thee a place whither he mall flee. Deut. xix. 4, 5. And this is the case of the player which fall flee thither tbat he may live; Whoso killeth his Neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past, as when a Man goeth into the Wood with his Neighbour, to hew wood, and his band fetcheth a stroke with the Ax to cut down the Tree,and the Head lippeth from the Helve, and lighteth upon his Neighbour that he die; he shall flee unto one of those Cities, and live.

Q. What use is to be made of this ?

A. 1. To thank God for all things we have, i Thef. v.18. In every thing give thanks : for this is the will of God in Christ Jefus concerning you.

2. To submit to his Will, í Sam. iii, 18. And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, it is the Lord : let him do what seemeth him good. Job i. 21. And Job said, Naked came I ont of my mother's womb, and naked mall I return thither : the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away ; Blessed be the name of the Lord..

3. To love and please him, Rom. viii. 28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Q. When was this Name given him?

A. At his Circumcision, Luc. i. 31. And behold, thou pale conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a Son, and shalt call his name Jesus. Luc. ii. 21. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the Angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Q. Why is he called Jefus ?

A. Because he is our Saviour, Matth. i. 21. And Me fall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his Name Jesus. For he mall save his people from their Sins.

Q. Is he our only Saviour

A. Yes, A&t. iv. 12. Neither is there Salvation in any other, for there is none other Name under Heaven given among Men, whereby we must be saved. I Tim. ii. s. For there is one God, and one Mediator between ; God and Men, the Man Christ Jesus.

Q. Is he able to save us all?

A. Yes, Heb. vii. 25. Wherefore he is able also te Save them to the uttermost, that come unto God by him, seeing be ever liveth to make Intercession for them. John v. 17. But Jefus answered them, my Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

Q. Why is he alone able to do it?

A. Because he only is both God and Man, Matth. i. 23. Behold a Virgin Mall be with Child, and phall bring forth a Son, and they hall call his Name Emmanuel, which being interpreted, is God with us.

Q. What Ule is to be made of this? - A. 1. Hence we are to trust in him only for Sal. vation and all things necessary to it, Aets v. 3 1. Him bath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give Repentance to Ifrael, and Forgivenefs of Sins.

2. We should love and honour him, Matth. x. 37. He that loveth Father or Mother more than me, is not worthy of me: and be that loveth Son or Daughter, more than me, is not worthy of me. I Cor. xvi. 22. If any Man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha.

Q. Why is Jesus called Christ?

A. Because he was anointed Messiah, Dan. ix. 25, 26. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the Commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem, unto the Meliab the Prince, mall be seven Weeks; and threescore and two Weeks the Street pall be built again, and the Wall, even in troublons times; and after threescore and two Weeks Mall Mefiah be cut off, but not for himself. John j. 41. He first findeth his own Brother Simon, and faith unto him We have found the Mellias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

Q. What was he anointed with?

A. The Holy Spirit, Alt. x. 38. God anointed Fefus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost, and with Power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the Devil: for God was with him.

Q. Why?

Ā. To be a Prophet, Priest, and King; all which, none but he ever was.

Q. Why was he anointed a Prophet?

A. To make known God's Will to us, Ifai. lxi. r. Tbe Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because tho Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek, he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim Liberty to the Captives, and the opening of the Prison to them that are bound. Luc. iv. 18. The

Spirit of the Lord is upon me, becanje he hath anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. A&. iii. 22. For Mofes truly said unto the Fathers, a Prophet Mall the Lord your God raise up unto you, of your Brethren, like unto me; bim shall ye hear in all things wharfoever be fall say unto you. Deut. xvi. 15. The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy Brethren, like unto me; unto him ye foall hearken.

l. Why a Priest?

Ā. To make atonement and intercellion for us, Heb. vii. 24, 25. But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable Priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermoff, that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make interceffion for them.

Q. Why a King ? Psalm ii. 26. The Kings of the earth set themselves, and the Rulers take councel rogether against the Lord and against his anointed. Vei. 6. Yet have I set my King upon my holy hill of Zion ?

A. "To rule, govern and reward us, A& v. 31. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to yive Repentance to Ifrael, and forgiveness of Sins. Matt. xxviii. 18, 20. And

Jesus came, and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have como manded you: and lo, I am with you alway even una to the end of the World. Amen.

His

His only Son . Whose Son is he?

A. God's, 1 John v. 5. Who is be that overcometh the World, but be that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.

Q. Why his only Son?

A. Because the only begotten, John iii. 16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him povld not perish, but have everlasting life. John i. 26. For as the Father bath life in himself, so bath he given to the Son to have life in bimself.

Q, If begotten of God he is God too, how doth that appear?

A. John i. 1. In tbe beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Rom. ix. g. Whose are the Father's, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever, Amen. Ifai. ix. 6. For wnio us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the govern. ment phiall be upon bis Shoulder: and his name mall be called, Wonderful, Conncellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

l. Is he then equal to the Father ?

A. Yes. Phil. ii. 6. Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God. John X. 30. I and my Father are one. .

Q. Must we then honour and worship the Son as we do the Father?

A. Yes. John v. 23. That all men mould honoxr the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father, which hath sent him. Heb. i. 6. And again, when he bringe eth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, and let all the Angels of God worsøip him.
