Shall meet around the throne; Shall blefs the conduct of his grace, And make his wonders known.

5 To our Redeemer-God,

Wisdom and pow'r belongs; Immortal crowns of majesty, And everlasting songs.

CXI. A Vifion of the Lamb. Rev. v. 6, 8, 9

A

LL mortal vanities be gone,

Nor tempt my eyes, nor tire my ears;

Behold amidst th' eternal throne,
A vifion of the Lamb appears.

2 All the affembling faints around,
Fall worshipping before the Lamb
And in new fongs of gospel-found,
Addrefs their honours to his name..

3 The joy, the fhout, the harmony,
Flies o'er the everlasting hills;
"Worthy art thou alone," they cry,
"To read the book, and loofe the feals."

4 Our voices join the heav'nly ftrain,
And with transporting pleafure fing;
Worthy the Lamb that once was flain,

To be our teacher and our king.

5 His words of prophecy reveal,
Eternal counfels, deep defign's;
grace and vengeance shall fulfil
The peaceful, and the dreadful lines.

6 Thou haft redeem'd our fouls from death, With thy invaluable blood;

And wretches that did once rebel,

Are now made fons and heirs of God."

7 Worthy for ever is the Lord,
Who dy'd for treasons not his own,

By ev'ry tongue to be ador'd,

And dwell upon his Father's throne.

Juftification by Faith,

not by Works: Or, the Law condemns, Grace juftifies. Rom. iii. 19, 22.

AIN are the hopes the fons of men,

their own works have built;

Their hearts by nature all unclean,
And all their actions guilt.

2 Let Jew and Gontile ftop their mouths,

Without a murm'ring word;

And the whole race of Adam stand

Guilty before the Lord.

3 In vain we ask God's righteous law

To juftify us now;

Since to convince, and to condemn,
Is all the law can do.

4 Jefus, how glorious is the grace!
When in thy name we trust!
Our faith receives a righteoufnefs,
That makes the finner juft.

Have we beheld the Lord;

Yet we rejoice to hear his name,

And love him in his word.

Yet, Lord, our inmoft thoughts delight

To dwell upon thy grace.

And when we taste thy love,

Our joys divinely grow;

Unfpeakable, like thofe above,
And Heav'n begins below.

[ocr errors]

HALL we go on to fin,
Because thy grace unbounds?

Or crucify the Lord again,
And open all his wounds?

2 Forbit it mighty God!
Not let it e'er be faid,

That we whofe fins are crucify'd,
Should raife them from the dead..

3 We would be flaves no more,

Since Chrift hath made us free, Hath nail'd our tyrants to his cross, And bought our liberty.

Joy in Heaven for a repenting Sinner. Luke, xv, 7,

HO can describe the joys that rife,
Thro' all the courts of paradife,

To fee a prodigal return;

To fee an heir of glory born?

2 With joy the Father doth approve,
The fruit of his eternal love;

The Soa with joy looks down and fees
The purchase of his agonies.

3 The Spirit takes delight to view,
The holy foul he form'd anew!
And faints and angels join to fing,
The growing empire of our king.

Chrift Jefus the Lamb

of God, worshipped by all the
Creation. Rev. ii. 12, 13.

I OME let us join our chearful fongs,
With angels round the throne;
Ten thousand thousand are their tongues,
But all their joys are one.

2 Worthy the Lamb that dy'd, they cry,

To be exalted thus:

Worthy the Lamb, our lips reply,
For he was flain for us.

3 Jefus is worthy to receive
Honour and pow'r divine;

And bleffings more than we can give,
Be, Lord, for ever thine.

4 Let all that dwell below the fky,
And air, and earth, and feas,
Confpire to lift thy glories high,
And fpeak thy endless praife.
