XIV. Effects of Faith. OW my dear Lord, fhall I exprefs "HOW The present happiness I fhare? With joy, my heart can now confefs 2 I, who on husks but lately fed, 4 Yet ftill, I only thirft while here, The happy life of faith to live; More choice, and riper fruits to bear, 'Till I on fion's fhore arrive. Let me pursue the path begun, Gladly therein my days to spend} 'Till all my pilgrimage is done, And faith and hope in glory end. XV. Chrift precious to a Believer. ESUS, I love thy charming name, JES 'Tis mufic to my ear; Fain would I found it cut fo loud, That all the earth might bear. Yes, 2 Yes, thou art precious to my foul, 3 All my capacious powers can wish, Nor friendship half so sweet. 4 O may thy name ftill chear my heart, 5 I'll speak the honours of thy name, XVI. Christ honoured, and the 1 HE Saviour's love once truly known, The man of fin and felf pulls down; Humbles the finner at his feet, And makes his wounds and paffion fweet. 2 Bow'd down in fhame, we gladly own, To him our very lives we owe, B 3 Our werks, no longer then, we praise Free and unmerited we prove, 4 While thus we learn the needful part, 5 We ftand amaz'd, and wonder why, To fave our fouls would shed his blood, don 6 Then O my foul, how canft thou be, XVII. The Believer's Requeft. ESUS the faviour of my foul, 2 Hungry and thirfty after thee, 30.may I never once forget, From From death and hell redeem'd by blood, 4. May thy bleft fpirit in my heart; The love of God, th' incarnate God, Who bought me with his blood, 5. In holy rev'rence I would ftill, With all my heart retain, "Th'atonement made by fefu's blood, And all his wounds and pain. 6 The myst'ry of redeeming love, Be ever dear to me; And may the flesh and blood of Chrift, H 1 My choiceft dainty be. a: XVIII. Looking to God thro "L Chrift. O! to the hills I lift my eyes, Father of mercies glorify, Thy fav'rite Jefu's name. 2. Salvation in that name is found, A med'cine for my ev'ry wound, XIX. Chrift our only Refuge. H OW blefs'd are they, whofe feet have found And stedfastly do walk therein, Far from the crooked paths of fin. 2 Their weary spirits fweetly reft. They here his wond'rous mercy prove, 3 In peace their hearts enjoy the Lamb. 4 His word declares their fins forgiven; NY His fpirit feals them heirs of heaven; And gives them patience here to wait, 5 He arms them for the evil day; 6 Then reft my foul, upon thy Lord.
