SPIRIT OF THE PSALXE
4 Henceforth my heart shall sigh no more For olden time and holier shore :
462. Future Glory of the Church. Ps. 67. God's love and blessing, then and there, 1 On thy Church, O Power Divine ! Are now and here and everywhere.
Cause thy glorious face to shine,
Till the nations from afar The Hope of Man. T. W. HIGGINSON. Hail her as their guiding star; | THE Past is dark with sin and shame,
Till her sons from zonc to zone
Make thy great salvation known.
2 Then shall God, with lavish hand,
Scatter blessings o'er the land; 2 For man has striven, ages long,
Earth shall yield her rich increase, With faltering steps, to come to thee; Every breeze shall whisper peace, And, in each purpose high and strong, And the world's remotest bound The influence of thy grace could see. With the voice of praise resound.
When hill and valley, ringing
With one triumphant song, Proclaim the contest ended;
And Him who once was slain, Again to earth descended,
In righteousness to reign ?
To give them songs for sighing,
Their darkness turn to light, Whose souls, condemned and dying,
Were precious in his sight.
Upon the thirsty earth;
Spring in his path to birth.
Shall peace, the herald, go;
From hill to valley flow. 4 Through him shall prayer unceasing,
And daily vows, ascend;
A kingdom without end.
His covenant remove;
His name to us is Love.
2 Then, from the craggy mountains,
The sacred shout shall fly;
Shall echo the reply.
Shall send the hymn around;
In one eternal sound.
To thee be praise for ever,
Thou glorious King of kings: Thy wondrous love and favor
Each ransomed spirit sings. We'll celebrate thy glory,
With all thy saints above, And shout the joyful story
Of thy redeeming love.
* All the trees of the held shall clap their hande." Whey shall the voice of singing
Flow joyfully along?
Permanence of the Church. A. C. Coxe. | 2 Clearer than crystal is the stream, 1 Oh where are kings and empires now,
And bright with endless day; Of old that went and came ?
The waves with every blessing teem.
And life and health convey.
3 Where'er they flow, contentions cease. 2 Mark ye her holy battlements,
And love and meekness reign: And her foundations strong;
The Lord himself commanıls the peace, And hear within her solemn voice,
And foes conspire in vain. And her unending song. 8 For not like kingdoms of the world 4 Along the shores, angelic bands
The Holy Church of God: [her, Watch every moving wave: Though earthquake shocks are rocking With holy joy their breast expands, And tempests are abroad.
When men the waters crave.
