Enlighten our beclouded eyes,
And teach our grovelling souls to rise!

10 THOU that hearest prayer!

Attend our humble cry, And let thy servants share Thy blessing from on high. We plead the promise of thy word: Grant us thy Holy Spirit, Lord.

2 If earthly parents hear

Their children when they cry; If they, with love sincere, Their varied wants supply, Much more wilt thou thy love display, And answer when thy children pray.

3 Our heavenly Father thou;

We, children of thy grace:
Ob let thy Spirit now
Descend and fill the place!
So shall we feel the heavenly flame,
And all unite to praise thy name.

1 Oh may that sacred fire,

Descending from above,
Our languid hearts inspire
With fervent zeal and love;

A Sabbath Morning. ANONYMOUS. 3 Safely conduct us, by thy grace,

1 How sweet, how calm, this sabbath morn!
How pure the air that breathes,
And soft the sounds upon it borne,
And light its vapor wreaths!

It seems as if the Christian's prayer,
For peace and joy and love,
Were answered by the very air
That wafts its strain above.

Through life's perplexing road;

And place us, when that journey's o'er,

At thy right hand, O God!

The Ways of Wisdom. SCOTCH PARAPHRASES

1 WISDOM has treasures greater far
Than east or west unfold;

And her rewards more precious are
Than is the gain of gold.

2 In her right hand she holds to view
A length of happy years;
And in her left the prize of fame
And honor bright appears.

3 She guides the young with innocence
In pleasure's path to tread;
A crown of glory she bestows

Upon the hoary head.

4 According as her labors rise,
So her rewards increase;
Her ways are ways of pleasantness
And all her paths are peace.

LYONS. 10s & 11s.

"Who is like unto the Lord our God?"

1 On worship the King, all-glorious above;
Oh gratefully sing his power and his love!
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

2 Oh tell of his might, oh sing of his grace,

Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space!
His chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form,
And dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

3 Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light,
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plains,
And sweetly distils in the dew and the rains.

4 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,

In thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

Thanksgiving.

1 OH PRAISE ye the Lord! prepare your glad voice,
His praise in the great assembly to sing;

In their great Creator let all men rejoice,
And heirs of salvation be glad in their King.

GRANT

TATE.
