PSALM CXXXVII. 1-8.

Y the waters of Babylon we sat down and wept when we remembered thee, O Sion. As for our harps, we hanged them up: upon the trees that are therein.

For they that led us away captive required of us then a song, and melody, in our heaviness: Sing us one of the songs of Sion.

How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem: let my right hand forget her cunning.

If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth: yea, if I prefer

not Jerusalem in my mirth.

Remember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Jerusalem: how they said, Down with it, down with it, even to the ground.

O daughter of Babylon, wasted with misery: yea, happy shall he be that rewardeth thee, as thou hast served us.

PSALM XC. I-5, 9, 10, 12—14;

CII. 3, 9, 2.

ORD, thou hast been our refuge : from one generation to another.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever the earth and the world were made: thou art God from everlasting, and world without end.

Thou turnest man to destruction: again thou sayest, Come again, ye children of men.

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday: seeing that is past as a watch in the night.

As soon as thou scatterest them, they are even as a sleep: and fade away suddenly like the grass.

For when thou art angry all our days are gone: we bring our years to an end, as it were a tale that is told.

The days of our age are threescore years and ten; and though men be so strong that they come to fourscore years: yet is their strength then but labour and sorrow; so soon passeth it away, and we are gone.

So teach us to number our days: that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Turn thee again, O Lord, at the last and be gracious unto thy servants.

O satisfy us with thy mercy, and that soon: so shall we rejoice and be glad all the days of our life.

For my days are consumed away like smoke: and my bones are burnt up as it were a firebrand.

For I have eaten ashes as it were bread: and mingled my drink with weeping;

But thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Hide not thy face from me in the time of my trouble: incline thine ear unto me when I call; O hear me, and that right soon.

PSALM XXV. 6, 7, 9, 15.

FRANCESCO Durante.

REMEMBER not the sins and offences of my youth but according to thy mercy

think thou upon me, O Lord.

Gracious and righteous is the Lord.

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth.

Turn thee unto me, for I am desolate and in misery.

O bring thou me out of

my troubles.
