LESSON VI. Genesis, Chap. vi. verses 5-22. The Deluge foretold, and the Building of the Ark. 5. When God looked upon the earth, what did he see? When He who searches the reins and the Could the Lord be mistaken in the heart of man? Did the nature of man still continue sinful after the flood? See Gen. viii. 21. What was said of it in after times by the Lord's prophet, Jer. xvii. 9 ? How was it in the days of the Saviour, as he himself declared in Mark vii. 21, 22 ? Is the nature of man changed in these days, or does it remain sinful still? 6. What is said of the Lord, when he saw the wickedness of man? How then must the Lord regard sin? Should you be willing any longer to do that which grieves the Lord at his heart? In what state had God made man at first? Eccl. vii. 29, and Gen. i. 26? ? May we expect to be destroyed, if we do not live as God requires? 8. What is said of Noah? Whose son and grandson was Noah, and from which of Adam's sons was he descended? Gen. v. What is meant by the expression "Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord ?" Why did the Lord have mercy upon him more than the others? Gen. vi. 9. 9. How does the ninth verse begin? What is meant by these words? What kind of a man was Noah? With whom did Noah walk.? What is a just man? How can any man be accounted just before God? What other person before Noah is said to have walked with God? Can any one walk with God, and still follow the sinful customs and practices of the world?' What does our Lord Jesus Christ say in Matt. vi. 24. 10. How many sons had Noah, and what were their names? 11. In what state were the inhabitants of the earth? What may we understand by the words that the earth was "corrupt ?" With what was it filled? What is meant by that? Does it make a people happy to walk in their own ways, and pay no regard to the laws of God?. What would soon be again the state of the whole world, if all men cast off the fear of God, and dis regarded his laws? What does God say in Isaiah lviii. 13, 14? Does God now look upon sin as he did then? 12. What is again said of the corruption of the earth? Who are meant by all flesh? 13. What did God then declare to Noah? What is meant by the words "the end of all flesh is come before me ?" 14. What did God command Noah to make? What is meant by an ark? What was Noah commanded to make in the ark? How was he to preserve it against the weather? 15. What was the length of the ark? How long was a cubit? Ans. 18.inches. What then was the length of the ark in our measure? What were the breadth and height of the ark? 16. What farther directions did God give Noah respecting the ark? 17. What did God say he would bring upon the earth? For what purpose? The Flood. 11. In what year of Noah's life did the flood of waters come upon the earth? In what year of the world, and how many years before Christ? What month and day of the month? What took place on that day? What is meant by "the great deep?" What is meant by the expression, "the windows of heaven were opened?" Will God in all things be as true to his word as he was in this case? 12. How long was the rain upon the earth? * See Bible Dictionary; article ark. Did the Lord give the people any warning? Gen. vi. 3. During what time did the long suffering of God wait, as is written in 1 Pet. iii. 20? What is Noah called in 2 Pet. ii. 5? To whom did he probably preach, and on what subject? What is said of Enoch's preaching to these sinners, in Jude xiv. 15? Did the people repent? Of what dreadful judgment do ministers now warn sinners? Do all that hear repent? Does the same God now rule who then "brought the flood upon the world of the ungodly?" What must sinners then expect, if they continue in their sins? 13.
