ONDON TIME is observed at all the Stations.

ICKETS AND CHANGE.-Passengers are requested to examine their Tickets and inge before leaving the Booking-Office counter, as errors cannot afterwards be ified.

LE-BOOKING.-Passengers cannot be re-booked at an intermediate Station by same Train from which they have alighted,

ETURN TICKETS issued for any distance within sixty miles are available only the day on which issued, except those issued on Saturday and Sunday, which available until the following Monday Evening (Greenwich and Mid Kent Lines epted). Return Tickets issued for any distance over sixty miles are available r the return journey on the same or following day; and those issued for that tance on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, are available by any Train of the same s up to the following Monday Evening. Return Tickets issued for Ordinary ins are not available on the return journey for Express Trains, except on payit of the difference of fare.

O MONEY RETURNED.-No money will be returned, or allowance made, for any et lost, mislaid, or not used.

RAVELLING IN PRIVATE CARRIAGES.-Passengers travelling in private carriages t being servants) are required to take first class Tickets; such Passengers may ove during the journey to the Company's first class carriages, if there be room hem. Servants travelling with private carriages will be charged Second Class es, and may remove to Second Class carriages, provided there be room. HILDREN under 3 years of age travel free; above 3 and under 12, half-price. UNCTIONS WHERE CHANGE OF CARRIAGE.-Passengers travelling to any Stations the Branch Lines should observe that they may have to change carriagesFor the Reading Branch at Reigate Junction.

'ASSENGERS' LUGGAGE.-First Class Passengers are allowed 100 lbs. of Luggage; ond Class, 60 lbs. ; and Third Class, 56 lbs., free of charge, such Luggage being the description mentioned in the Company's Acts of Parliament. Children who y half fare are allowed half the foregoing quantity. Overweight will be charged per lb. for any distance under forty miles, and d. per lb. for any distance ceeding forty miles. Commercial Travellers passing to various parts of the Line ring the same day will be charged overweight, at the above rates, for the farthest point of destination only, if declared at the commencement of the day's journey, d the Luggage Ticket given up at the termination.

LUGGAGE TO BE CLAIMED AND LABELLED.-Passengers are required, after taking eir Tickets, to claim their Luggage on the platform, and to see it marked with e Company's labels; and no Luggage will be placed in the Train until it is so arked. The Company will not be responsible for the loss or detention of any ticle of Luggage that is not marked with their label, and properly addressed, nor r Luggage of any other description than that mentioned in their Acts of Parment, except a declaration of its nature and value be made at the time, and it booked and paid for accordingly. All Passengers' Luggage is conveyed subject the conditions upon which Goods are carried by the Company.

ALL UNCLAIMED PROPERTY found on the Company's premises, or in their car

riages, is deposited in the Lost Property Office, at the London Bridge Terminus. If there be an address on the articles found, notice will be sent to that address that the property is in the Company's possession; and if there be no address thereon, the packages will be opened at the expiration of one week, with a view to ascertain the address of the owner, when notice will be forwarded to him, and the Property will in either case be restored to the owner on payment of a fee of 6d. for each Article, or forwarded, if desired, at the usual Parcels' Rates. An additional charge of 6d. per week is made, after the expiration of the first week, on each Article left for a longer period.

CLOAK ROOM.-The Company will not be responsible for Articles left by Passengers at the Station, unless the same be duly registered, for which a charge of 2d. per Article will be made, and a ticket given in exchange; and no Article will be given up without the production of the ticket, or satisfactory evidence of the ownership being adduced. A charge of 1d. per diem, in addition, will be made on all articles left in the Cloak Room for a longer period than 24 hours. Company will not be responsible for any Package exceeding the value of £10.

TIME OF TRAINS NOT GUARANTEED. The published Time Bills of the Company are intended to fix the departure of the Trains from each Station, and every exertion will be made to insure punctuality; but the Company will not be responsible for any loss, inconvenience, or injury, which may arise from delay or detention, in the starting, transit, or arrival of the Trains.

TIME BOOKING-OFFICE CLOSES.-The doors of the Booking-Offices at Terminal Stations will be closed against the further admission of Passengers Three Minutes before the time specified for the departure of the Train; but at intermediate Stations Passengers will be admitted after the time fixed for starting, if the Train has not arrived, until it is signalled as approaching.

INFORMATION AND INQUIRIES.-The Company will not be responsible for information given by any other persons than the officers in charge of the different Stations. All inquiries relative to the service of the line, addressed to the Manager, London Bridge Terminus, will receive immediate attention.

LADIES' CARRIAGE.-A. carriage is always reserved for ladies, when required. OLD LABELS.-Passengers should be careful to clear their luggage of all old Railway or other labels before commencing each journey; and have their existing address plainly and securely placed thereon.

On CHRISTMAS DAY and GOOD FRIDAY Sunday Trains only will run.

PAYMENT OF FARE; PENALTIES.-Under the Provisions of the Acts relating to this Railway, any Person who shall travel, or attempt to travel, in any Carriage used on the Railway, without having previously paid his Fare, and with intent to avoid payment thereof, or who, having paid his Fare for a certain distance, shall knowingly and wilfully proceed in any such Carriage beyond such distance, without previously paying the additional Fare for the additional distance, and with intent to avoid payment thereof, or who shall knowingly and wilfully refuse or neglect, on arriving at the point to which he has paid his Fare, to quit such Carriage, is for every such offence liable to a penalty of Forty Shillings.

PENALTY FOR OBSTRUCTION.-Persons wilfully obstructing or impeding the Company's Officers in the execution of their duty, are liable, under the 3 & 4 Vict., c. 97, s. 16, to be apprehended and fined Five Pounds, with Two Months" Imprisonment in default of payment.

FEES FORBIDDEN.-No Fee or Gratuity is permitted to be taken by any Guard, Porter, or other Servant of the Company, under pain of immediate dismissal.

SPECIAL BOATS, to convey Passengers and Despatches to Boulogne or Calais,

can be had at Folkestone, on the shortest notice, by applying to the Manager at the London Bridge Terminus of the South-Eastern Railway, or to the Harbour Master at Folkestone.

THE TRAINS AND BOATS do not wait for each other when detained by stress of weather or casualty.

FRENCH MONEY can be obtained in exchange for English Money, at the rate of 25 fr. for One Sovereign, on application at the Harbour Office, Folkestone.

TICKETS TO BE KEPT IN READINESS.-Passengers should have their Tickets ready to show at the Stair landing at the Steam Boats before going on Board, and to deliver on leaving the Boats.

NO GRATUITIES ALLOWED TO BE RECEIVED.-Passengers are respectfully requested not to give Fees to any of the Company's Servants.

COMPLAINTS.-Every attention will be given to any Complaints which Passengers may have reason to make. They should be addressed to one of the Chief Officers of the Railway.

THE ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH

Is now in operation throughout the South-Eastern Railway. Messages can be sent by the Public to and from the various Stations on the Line. Communications for London are received at the London Bridge Terminus; at the Telegraph Office, No. 1, Arcade. 1. London, Tunbridge, Ashford, Folkestone, and Dover, will be OPEN from 6.0 a.m. to 11.0 p.m. 2. Red Hill, Reading, Tunbridge Wells, St. Leonards, Hastings, Maidstone, Canterbury, Deal, Ramsgate, Margate, Blackheath, Woolwich Arsenal, Gravesend, and Strood, will be open from 7.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and on Sundays from 8 to 10 a.m. and from 1 to 3 and from 6 to 9 p.m. Other Stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (with the exception of Whitstable, which closes at 7.0 p.m.); and on Sundays from 8 to 10 a.m., and from 7 to 8 p.m. On Good Friday and Christmas Day, the Stations are open as on Sundays, and the extra shilling is charged.

Messages not exceeding twenty words are transmitted by Electric Telegraph between Telegraph Stations on the South-Eastern Railway, at the following Rates:-All Messages to be prepaid. Within a circuit of 25 miles, 1s.; beyond 25, and within a circuit of 50 miles, 1s. 6d. ; beyond 50 miles, 2s.

Half the above Rates will be charged for every ten words or fraction of ten words exceeding 20 words. No charge is made for the Names and Addresses of Sender or Receiver. An extra Shilling per Message is charged for Sunday Messages.

CYPHER COMMUNICATIONS are sent according to the same rates, four cypher or private signals being considered equivalent to twenty words.

Each word sent UNDERLINED, or in ITALICS, or within a PARENTHESIS, or between INVERTED COMMAS, will be counted and charged as two words.

MESSENGERS are despatched with Telegraphic Communications immediately on their arrival, at a charge, if within three miles, of 6d. per mile on foot; or ls. per mile by Cab, Horse, &c.; if beyond three miles, 1s. per mile by the readiest available means.

But no porterage is charged, if the distance is within half a mile. And for distances within ten miles, if sent by Railway, only 6d. per mile is charged, and Porterage in LONDON is charged 6d. per mile for the first three miles, and 6d. per half mile for every half mile beyond three miles; but 1s. for each mile if cabs are required.
