We pray thee to strengthen our faith, to enliven our hope, and to increase our love more and more. Give us grace, that we may abound in every good word and work, and adorn the doctrine of GOD our Saviour, in all things.

Look with compassion, we beseech thee, upon the whole race of mankind. May such as know thee, be enabled to rejoice in thee evermore : may they have fellowship with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ: may they walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.-May such as have hitherto been estranged from thee in heart and life, be brought near unto thee in holy communion, through faith in thy dear Son, and

glorify thee, in will, word, and deed.

Have mercy upon those nations of the world, which have long been enslaved in the bondage of Satan. From the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, let thy name be great among the Gentiles; and in every place let incense be offered unto thy name, and a pure offering; yea, let thy name be great among the heathen.

Regard with thy loving-kindness thy ancient people the Jews. Turn them unto thyself, and take away the veil which is upon their heart. May they look on Him whom they have pierced and mourn; and may He be at once a light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel.

Let thy continued blessing rest

upon our highly-favoured land. Be thou with our Sovereign Lord the King; and so replenish him with the grace of thy Holy Spirit, that he may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way.

Let it please thee to endue the Lords of the Council, and all the Nobility, with grace, wisdom, and understanding. Bless and keep the magistrates, giving them grace to execute justice, and to maintain truth.

Support and comfort all that are in affliction and distress; sanctify their trials, and give them in due time a happy issue from them.

And now, Lord, accept, we beseech thee, our most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us, and to all men. We bless thee for our creation, preser

vation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world, by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.

In the name of thy beloved Son we present to thee this our evening service, commending ourselves to thy care and protection through Him: to whom we ascribe with thee, O Father, and the Holy Ghost equal and everlasting praise. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER III.

WE praise thee, O God: we acknow

thee to be the Lord. Heaven

and earth are full of the Majesty of thy glory.

Fill our minds, we beseech thee, with holy reverence whenever we draw near unto thee, and give us grace to worship before thee, in godly fear.

We are not worthy, O Lord, to come into thy sacred presence; to offer unto thee any service, or to ask of thee any favour.

However we may assist and benefit each other, we are conscious that no goodness of ours can extend unto thee. Thou puttest no trust in thy servants; (and thine angels thou hast charged with folly;) how much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth!

Nevertheless thou hast not left us
