feared; thou art to be had in reverence of all those that are about thee.

Help us, we beseech thee, to come into thy sacred presence in unfeigned humility, remembering that thou art in heaven, and that we are upon earth.

Great is thy condescension in deigning to look down upon such sinful creatures as we are; yet hast thou not only done this, but encouraged us to make known our requests unto thee, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.

All our necessities are known unto thee; and thou art able to supply them all out of the fulness that is in Jesus Christ.

For his sake pardon, we beseech thee, all our sins and wickedness, which we, from time to time, most

grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against thy Divine Majesty, provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us.

Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; forgive us, we beseech thee, all that is past; and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee, in newness of life, to the honour and glory of thy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

O grant us evermore thy supporting, directing, and cheering presence. In conflict with the adversaries of our souls may we be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. In doubts and difficulties may we be assisted with wisdom

from above.

In trials and distresses

may the joy of the Lord be our strength. Leave us not, neither forsake us, O God of our salvation. Keep us this day in thy fear, and in the path of duty. Preserve us

from danger; deliver us from the power of temptation; and in our respective employments and occupations grant us thy blessing.

Regard with thy merciful favour all our dear friends and relatives; may they be partakers of thy grace here, and inheritors of thy glory hereafter.

Reward our benefactors and wellwishers; forgive our enemies, persecutors, and slanderers, and turn their hearts.

Comfort the afflicted, support the weak, relieve the destitute, and have mercy upon all mankind.

Let the Gospel of the Kingdom be preached unto all people; and may all the ends of the world remember and turn unto the Lord, and all the kindreds of the nations worship before thee.

To these our prayers and intercessions we desire to add the unfeigned tribute of our praise.

We thank thee, most merciful Father, for all that thou hast done, and for all that thou continuest to

do for us. We gratefully acknowledge thy goodness to us in the gifts of thy providential bounty; but more especially in the richer blessings of thy redeeming grace. We praise thee for the promised influences of thy Holy Spirit; for the actual experience of present consola

tion; and for the glorious prospect of everlasting joy.

Hear us, in mercy, we humbly beseech thee; accept our services, exceed our petitions, and grant that we may at length attain the end of our faith, even the salvation of our souls, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Grace of our Lord, &c.

EVENING PRAYER I.

ALMIGHTY and most gracious God, who keepest the covenant and mercy to them that love thee, and to them that keep thy commandments; look down upon us, we pray thee, at this time with thy favour, and visit us with thy blessing. Shew us thy
