7 Howbeit, I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had feen it: and behold, the half was not told me: thy wildom and profperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

8 Happy are thy men, happy are these thy fervants, which ftand continually betore thee: and that hear thy wifedome.

9 Bieffed be the LORD thy God which delighted in thee, to fet thee on the throne of Ifrael: becaufe the LORD loved Ifrael for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgement and justice.

16 And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: fix hundred shekels of gold went to one target.

35 But I will take the kingdom out of his ion hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

36 And unto his fun will I give one tribe, that David my fervant may have a light al way before mein Jerufalem, the city which I have chofen me to put my

name there.

37 And I will take thee, and thoufhalt eigne according to all that thy foul de freth, and fhalt be king over If ael.

38 And it fhall be, ifthou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my wayes, and do that is right in my fight, to keep my ftatutes and my commandements,as David my fervant did;that I will be with thee, and build thee a fure houfe, as I built for David, and will give Ifrael unto thee.

39 And I will for this afflict the feed of David; but not for ever.

40 Solomon fought therefore to kill Jeroboam, and Jeroboamarofe, and fled into Egypt, unto Shifhak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt unc lithe death of Solomon. 44 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wifdome, are they not written in the book of the Bets of Solomon?

42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerufalem over all Ifrael, was fourty years. 43 And Solomon flept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father:and Rehoboam his fon reigned in his ftead.

12 ¶ So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, faying, Come to me again the third day.

13 And the king anfwered the people roughly, and forfook the old mens courfel that they gave him:

14 Andipake to them after the counfell of the young men, faying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will adde to your yoke: my father alfo chaftifed you with whips, but I will chattife you fcorpions. 15Wherefore king hearkened not unto the people: for the caufe was from the LORD, that he might perform his faying which the LORD fpake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the fon of Nebat.

25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein, and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

26 And Jeroboam faid in his heart,Now fhall the kingdomne return to the house of David:

27 Ifthis people go up, to do facrifice in the houfe of the LORD at Jerufalem, then fhall the heart of this people turnagain unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam Ring of Judah, and they fhall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

28 Whereupon the king took counfell, and made two calves ofgold, and faid unto them, Itis too much for you to go up to Jerufalem: behold, thy gods, Offrael, brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, 29 And he fet the one in Beth-el, and the other put hein Dan.

30 And this thing became a fin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

31 And he made an houfe of high places, and made Priests of the lowelt of the peo ple, which were not of the fons of Lev.

32 And Jeroboam ordained a feat in the eighth moneth, on the fifteenth day ofthe moneth, like unto fealt that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar, (fo did he in Beth-el) facrificing unto the calves that he hath made: and he placed in Beth-el the Prielts of the high places he had made. 33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth-el, y fifteenth day ofthe eighth moneth even in the moneth which he had devifed of his own heart: & ordain ed a feat unto the children of Ifrael, & he offered upon the altar, and burnt incenfe. CHAP. XIII. Ieroboams band withereth. 7 The prophet departeth from Betbel. Nd behold, there came a man of God A out of Judah, by the word of theLORD unto Beth-el: and Jeroboam ftood by the altar to burn incente.

2 And he er ed against the altar in the word of the LORD, and faid, Oaltar, altar, thus faith the LORD, Behold, a child fhall be born unto the houfe of David, Jofiah by name, and upon thee fhall he offer the Priests of the high places that burnt incenfe upon thee, and mens bones fhall be burnt upon thee.

5 The altar was alfo rent, and the afhes poured out from the altar, according to the lign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

5 And the king anfwered and faid unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God befought the LORD, and the kings hand was reftored again, and became as it was before.

7 And the king faid unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thy felf, and I will give thee a reward.

8 And the man of God faid unto the king, Ifthou wilt giveme half thine houfe, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:

9 For fo it was charged me by the word of the LORD, faying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the fame way that thou cameft.

to So he went another way,and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.

Now there dwelt an old Prophet in Beth-el and his fons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel : the words which he had fpoken unto the king, them they told alfo to their father.

12 And their father faid unto them, What way went he? for his fons had feen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.

13 And he faid unto his fons Sadie me the afs. So they fadled him the afs, and he rode thereon,

14 And went after the man of God, and found him fitting under an oale, and he faid unto him, Art thou the man of God that camet from Judah, and he faid, I am,

15 Then hefaid unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.

16 And he faid, I may not return with thee nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread, nor drink water with thee in this place.

17 For it was faid to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread,nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camelt.

18. Hefaid unto him, I am a Prophet allo as thou art, and an angel fpake unto me by the word of the LORD, faying, Bring him back with thee into thine hor that he may eat bread, and drink water: but he lied unto him.
