Jacobs funeral. Genefis. 2 And Jofeph commanded his fervants the phyficians to embalm his father: and the phyficians embalmed lfrael.

3 And forty days were fulfilled for him (for fo are fulfilled days of thofe which are embalmed) and the Egyptians mourn ed for him three core and ten days.

4 And when the days of his mourning were paft, Jofeph fpake unto the houfe of Pharaoh, laying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, fpeak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, faying

My father made me fwear, faying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me, in the land of Canaan, there halt thou bury nie. Now therefore let me go ap, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

6 And Pharaoh faid, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made theefwear. 7 And Jofeph went up to bury his father and with him went up all the fervants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

8 And all the houfe of Jofeph, and his brethren, and his fathers houfe: onely their little ones, and their fucks, and their herds, they left in land of Gothen. -9 And there went up with him both chariots and horfmen, and it was a very great company.

13 For his fons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah which Abraham bought with the field for a poffeffionofa burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, be fore Mamre,

17 So fhall ye fay unto Jofeph, Forgive, pray thee now, the trefpafs of thy brethren, and their fin: for they did unto thee evill: And now, we pray thee, forgive the trefpafs of the fervants of the God of thy father: And Jofeph wept when they ipake unto him.

18 And his brethren alfo went and fell down before his face; and they faid, Behold, we be thy fervants.

19 And Jofeph faid unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20 But as for you, ye thought evill againft me, but God meant it unto good, to bring to pafs, as it is this day, to fave much people alive.

21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them; and fpake kindly unto them.

22 And Jofeph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his fathers houfe: and Jofeph lived an hundred and ten years.

23 And Jofeph taw Ephraims children of the third generation: the children allo of Machir, the fon of Manaffeh, were brought up upon Jofeph knees.

24 And Jofeph faid unto his brethren,I die: & Ged will furely vifit you, and bring you out of this land, unto the land which he fware to Abraham, to Ifaac,&to Jacob.

25 And Jofeph took an oath of the children of Ifrael, faying, God will furely vifit you, and ye fhall carry up my bones from hence.

26 So Jofeph died, being an hundred and ten yearsold: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

Ow there are the names of the children of Ifrael, which came into Egypt, every man and his houlhold came with Jacob: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah. Iffac har. Zebulun, and Benjamin, Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, andAlher. And all the fouls that came out of the toyns of Jacob were feventy fouls: for Jofeph was in Egypt already.

6 And Jofeph died and all his brethren, andall that generation.

7 And the children of Ifrael were fruitfull, and increased abundantly, and Multiplied, and waxedexceeding mighty, and the land was filled with them.

8 Now there arole up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Jofeph.

9 And he faid unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Ifrael are more and mightier then we.

10 Come on, let us deal wifely with them, leaft they multiply, and it come to pals,y when there fallethout any war, they joyn alfo unto our enemies, &fight again us, and fo get them up out of the land.

11 Therefore they did fet over them task-mafters, to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treafure cities, Pithom and Raamfes.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew and they were grieved because of the children of Ifrael.

17 But the midwives feared Sod, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but faved the men-children alive. 18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and faid unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have faved the inen-children alive?

11 And it came to pafs in thofe days, when Mofes was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens; and he fpied an Egyptian fmiting an Hebrew one of his brethren. 12 And he looked this way and y way: & when he fawy there was no man, he flew the Egyptian, and hid him in the fand.

13 And when he went out fecond day, behold, two men of the Hebrews ftrove together: and he faid to him that did the wrong, Wherefore fmiteft thou thy fellow 14 And he faid, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendelt thou to kill me, as thou killedit the Egyptian? 19And the midwives faid unto Pharaoh, And Moles feared, and faid, Surely this Beaufe thellebrew women are not as the thing is known. Egyptian women: fur they are livety,and Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, are delivered ere the midwives come in he fought to flay Moles. But Mofes fed unto them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives; and the people multiplied,and waxed very mighty.

4 And when the LORD faw that he turned alide to fee, God called unto him out of the midft of the bufh, and faid, Mofes, Mofes. And he faid, Here am I.

And he faid,Draw not nigh hither: put off thy fhoes from off thy feet: for place whereon thou ftandeft, is holy ground. 6 Moreover he faid, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Ifaac, and the God of Jacob. And Liotes hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

And the LORD faid, I have furely feen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry, by realon of their taskmafters; for I know their forrows:

17 And I have faid, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt, unto the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.

18 And they fhall hearken to thy voyce: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Ifrael, unto the king of Egypt, and you fhall fay unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us; and now let us go (we beseech thee) three dayes journey into the wildernefs, that we may facrifice to the LORD our God.

19 And I am fure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.

20 And I will stretch out my hand, and fmite Egypt with all my wonders which I will doin the midft thereof: and after that. he will let you go.

12 And he jaid, Certainly I will be with thee, and this fall be a token unto thee that I have fent thee: When thou halt brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye hall ferve God upon this mountain.

CHAP. IV. Mofes rod is turned into a fer pent. 6 His band is leprous. 21 Gods meffage to Pharaoh.

Nd Mofes anfwered, and faid, But be

Ahold, they will not be leeve me, nor
hearken unto my voyce; for they will fay
The LORD hath hot appeared unto thee.

2 And the LORD faid unto him, What is
that in thine hand? And he faid, A rod.

And he faid, Caft it on the ground. And he caft it on the ground, and it became a ferpent: and Mofes fled from before it.

11 And the LORD faid unto him, Who hath made mans mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the feeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt fay.


13 And he faid, Omy LORD, fend pray thee, by the hand of bim whom thou wilt fend.

14 And the anger ofthe LORD was kindled againft Mofes, and he faid, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that meth forth to meet thee: and when he he can speak well. And also behold, he to feeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

28 And Mofes told Aaron all the words of the LORD, who had fent him, and all the figns which he had commanded him.

29 And Mofes, and Aaron went, and gathered together all the elders of the children of lfrael.

30 And Aaron ipake all the words which the LORD had poken unto Mofes, and did the figns in the fight of the people.

31 And the people beleeved, and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Ifrael, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

14 And the officers of the children of Ifrael, which Pharaohs task-mafters ha

17 But he laid, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye fay, Let us go,and do facrifice to the LORD.

18 Go therefore now and work: for there fhall no ftraw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.

19 And the officers of the children of If rael did fee that they were in evill cafe, after it was faid, Ye fhall not finish ought from your bricks of your daily task.

11 Goin, fpeak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Ifrael go out of his land

12And Mofes fpake before the Lord,faying,Behold, the children of Ifrael have not hearkened unto me: how then shall Pharaoh hear me, whoamofuncircumcifed lips?

13 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, and unto Aaron, and gave tham a charge unto the children of Ifrael, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Ifrael out of the land of Egypt.

14 Thefe be the heads of their fathers 20 And they met Mofes and Aaron houfes: The fons of Reuben, first-born who ftood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh,

21 And they faid unto them, The LORD Iook upon you, and judge; because you have made our favour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh,and in the eyes of his fervants, to put a fword in their hands to flay us.

22 And Mofes returned unto the LORD, and faid, Lord, wherefore haft thou fo evill intreated this people? why is it that thou haft fent me?

6 Wherefore fay unto the children of Ifrael, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens ofthe Egyptians,&I will rid you out of their bondage: & I will redeem you with a ftretched-out arm, and with great judgements. 7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a Gud: and ye thall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens he Egyptians

18 And the fons ofKohath;Amram,and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life ofKohath were an hundred thirty and three years.

19 And the fons of Merari; Mahali,and Mufhi: thefe are the families of Levi,according to their generations;

20 And Amram took him Jochebed his fathers fifter to wife: and the bare him Aaron and Mofes: And the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and feven years.

21 And the fons of Izhar; Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri.

22 And the fons of Uzziel; Mifhael, and Elzaphan, and Sithri.

23 And Aaron took him Elifheba daughter of Amminadab, fifter of Naafhon, to wife; and the bare him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

24 And the fons of Korah Affir, and Elkanah and Abiafaph: thefe are the families of the Korhites

25 And Eleazar Aarons fon took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; & the bare him Phinehas: thefe are the heads of the fathers of the Levites, accordingto their families.

26 Thefe are that Aaron and Mofes, to whom the LORD faid, Bring out the chil dren of Ifrael from the land of Egypt, aecording to theirarmies.

27 Thefe are they which fpake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Ifrael from Egypt: thefe are that Mofes and Aaron, 281 And
