The humble petition of Jacob Ball Late of the Queens Loyal Rangers now in Ernest Town District of Mecklenburgh Sheweth that whereas I have served honestly and faithfully for the term of Two Years in his Majesties Provincial Regiment, called Loyal Rangers and was disbanded according to his Majesties late Order and was thereby discharged and entitled to the portion of Land allotted to each Private of His Provincial Corps who wishes to become a Settler in this Province having business in the Colonies I was not able to settle my Land with the rest of my fellow Soldiers but since my return I have made application to Mr. McNiff at Johnstown in the Year 1786, and he told me there was no vacant Land for me therefore I proceeded to this place and having found Land in this Township and would wish to become a Settler of it and therefore it is my humble desire and request that you would send Orders to Mr. Atkins the Surveyor at Kingstown to give me a Certificate for my Portion of Lands allotted to me by his Majesties late Order.
