pour The beams of His mercy on each distant

CLOTH'D in mortal's mean apparel

Sinner, see the Saviour here;
Tried with pain and bitter travail,

2 He in whom my soul delighteth,

Mine elect, Mine only Son,
Heav'n's transcendent glory slighteth,
Girds the servant's raiment on,

He to save Thee
Leaves His Father's glorious throne.
3 Contrite sinner, griev'd and groaning,

Pierced by sin's envenomed dart;
Bruised, lamenting, deeply moaning,
He will heal thy spirit's smart :

To the Saviour
Sinner yield thy grateful heart.

4 Though thy lamp be " dimly burning,"

Tho' thy gratitude be small,
Never from His promise turning,
Love from Thee will He recall :

Consummation
Shall the work begun receive.

282. Seaman's Hymn. WHEN through the torn sail the wild

tempest is streaming, When o'er the dark wave the red lightning

is gleaming, Nor hope lends a ray the poor seaman to

cherish, We fly to our Maker-"Help, Lord ! or

we perish!" 2 Oh Jesus! once tossed on the breast of the

billow, Aroused by the shriek of despair from Thy

pillow, Now seated in glory, the mariner cherish, Who cries in his danger—"Help, Lord !

or we perish !" 3 And oh, when the whirlwind of passion

is raging, When hell in our heart his wild warfare

is waging, Arise in Thy strength, Thy redeemed to

cherish, Rebuke the destroyer—"Help, Lord ! or

we perish !"

283. God is Love. COME ye that know and fear the Lord,

And raise your thoughts above; Let every heart and voice accord

To sing that God is love." 2 This precious truth His word declares,

And all His mercies prove; Jesus the Gift of gifts appears

To shew that God is love."
3 Behold His patience bearing long

With those who from Him rove ;
Till mighty grace their hearts subdues,

To teach them" God is love." 4 The work begun is carried on

By power from heaven above ; And every step from first to last,

Declares that God is love." 5 O may we all, while here below,

This best of blessings prove;

The Lord's Day.
THIS day the light of heavenly birth,

First streamed upon the new-born

earth;
O Lord, this day upon us shine,

And fill our souls with LIGHT divine. 2 This day the Saviour left the grave,

And rose, omnipotent to save ;-
O Jesus, may we raised be
From death of sin to LIFE in Thee.

O COME, ye saints of God,

Declare through earth abroad,

Tell what His love has done ;
Trust in His name alone;
