Their duty shall afford, And haste to serve their Lord. 3 The strangers of the Gentile race Shall with His church attend ; And in His temples bend. My rock, I bless His name! Jesus, my God, salvation gives ! Through earth exalt His fame. 19. Psalm XIX. THE spacious firmament on high, With all the blue ethereal sky, And spangled heav'ns, a shining frame, Their great Original proclaim. Th’ unwearied sun from day to day, Doth his Creator's power display, And publishes to ev'ry land The work of an Almighty hand. 2 Soon as the evening shades prevail, The moon takes up the wond'rous tale, And nightly to the list'ning earth, Repeats the story of her birth. 'WHERE twoor three, with sweet accord, Obedient to their Sovereign Lord, Meet to recount His acts of grace, And offer solemn prayer and praise : Amid this little company ; And shed my glories round the place.” 3 We meet at Thy command, O Lord, Relying on Thy faithful word : And fill our hearts with heavenly love. From lips of gentleness and grace, When list'ning thousands gathered round, And joy and rev'rence filid the place. 2 From heaven He came, of heaven He spoke, To heaven He led His followers' way; L.M. L.M. Dark clouds of gloomy night He broke, Unveiling an immortal day. 3 66 Come, wanderers, to my Father's home, Come, all ye weary ones, and rest :" Yes, sacred Teacher, we will come, Obey Thee, love Thee, and be blest ! 4 Decay then, tenements of dust, Pillars of earthly pride, decay; And Jesus has prepar'd the way. On which the Prince of Glory died, My richest gain I count but loss, And pour contempt on all my pride. 2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, Save in the death of Christ, my God; I sacrifice them to His blood. 3 See from His head, His hands, His feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down; Or thorns compose so rich a crown ? That were a present far too small ; Demands my soul, my life, my all. 23. Psalm XXIII. 6,8. THE Lord my pasture shall prepare, And feed me with a shepherd's care ; My noon-day walks He shall attend, And all my midnight hours defend. 2 When in the sultry glebe I faint, Or on the thirsty mountains pant, Amid the verdant landscape flow. With gloomy horrors overspread, And guide me thro' the dreadful shade. 4 Though in a bare and rugged way, Through devious wilds I lonely stray, And streams shall murmur all around. The Saviour is gone up on high ; The powers of hell are captive led, Dragg'd to the portals of the sky. 2 Loose all your bars of massy light, And wide unfold th' ethereal scene, He claims these mansions as His right; Receive the King of Glory in ! 3 Who is the King of Glory? who? The Lord that all His foes o'ercame ; L.M. |
