3 In the path of life He leads me,
By the stream that gently flows;
In the verdant pasture feeds me,
Where no plant injurious grows;
There I hear the Shepherd's voice,
There He bids my soul rejoice.

4 When through death's dark valley going,
Fearful though the way appear,
I will dread no evil; knowing,

39.

Thou, my Shepherd, still art near:
When I see Thy rod and staff,
Then I know Thy sheep is safe.

Sunday Morning.

AGAIN the Lord of life and light
Awakes the kindling ray;

Unseals the eyelids of the morn,
And pours increasing day.

C.M.

2 Oh! what a night was that which wrapt
The heathen world in gloom!
Oh! what a Sun which broke this day
Triumphant from the tomb!

3 This day be grateful homage paid,
And loud Hosannahs sung;
Let gladness dwell on every heart,
And praise on every tongue.

4 Ten thousand differing lips shall join
To hail this welcome morn,

Which scatters blessings from its wings
To nations yet unborn.

The Sacrament.

8,7.

ISRAEL'S Shepherd! guide me, feed me,
Thro' my pilgrimage below;

And beside the waters lead me,
Where Thy flock rejoicing go;
Could I wander, fear disdaining,
Could I quit the sheltering fold,
Heedless of Thy grace constraining,
In the strength of nature bold?

2 No: Thy guardian presence ever,
Meekly kneeling, I implore,
I have found Thee, and would never,
Never wander from Thee more:
In Thy bruised body broken,

In the shedding of Thy blood,
What a gracious pledge and token,
Lord, have we for every good.

Epiphany.

11,10.

BRIGHTEST and best of the Sons of the

morning!

Dawn on our darkness, and lend us thine aid!

Star of the East, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

2 Cold on His cradle the dew-drops are shining,

Low lies His head with the beasts of the stall,

Angels adore Him in slumber reclining, Maker, and Monarch, and Saviour of all!

3 Say, shall we yield him, in costly devotion, Odours of Edom, and offerings divine? Gems of the mountain, and pearls of the

ocean,

Myrrh from the forest, or gold from the mine?

4 Vainly we offer each ample oblation; Vainly with gifts would His favour secure, Richer by far is the heart's adoration, Dearer to God are the prayers of the

Psalm XLII.

C.M.

AS pants the hart for cooling streams,

When heated in the chase;

So longs my soul, O God, for Thee,
And Thy refreshing grace.

2 For Thee, my God, the living God,
My thirsty soul doth pine;

O! when shall I behold Thy face,
Thou majesty divine!

3 Why restless, why cast down, my soul?
Hope still; and thou shalt sing
The praise of Him who is thy God,
Thy health's eternal spring.

Gloria Patri.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

The God whom we adore ;

Be glory, as it was, is now,

And shall be evermore.

Innocents' Day.

C.M.

OH! weep not o'er thy children's tomb; Oh, Rachel, weep not so!

The bud is cropt by martyrdom,

The flower in heaven shall blow !

2 Firstlings of faith! the murderer's knife Has miss'd its deadliest aim:

The God for whom they gave their life, For them to suffer came!

3 Tho' evil were their days and few, Baptized in blood and pain,

He knows them, whom they never knew, And they shall live again.

4 Oh! weep not, &c.

Second Coming of Christ. 8,7,4.

LO! He comes with clouds descending,

Once for favour'd sinners slain !
Thousand, thousand saints attending,
Swell the triumph of His train,
Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen.

2 Every eye shall now behold Him,
Rob'd in dreadful majesty ;

Those who set at nought, and sold Him,
Pierc'd and nail'd Him to the tree,

Deeply wailing,

Shall the true Messiah see.

3 Every island, sea, and mountain, Heaven, and earth, shall flee away;

All who hate Him, must, confounded,
Hear the trump proclaim the day,
Come to judgment!

Come to judgment! come away!

4 Now redemption, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear!
All His saints by man rejected,
Now shall meet Him in the air!
Hallelujah!

See the day of God appear!

45.

Fleeing from Judgment.

C.M.

(Amos iv. 12.)

WHEN rising from a bed of death,
O'erwhelmed with guilt and fear,

I see my Maker face to face,

Oh! how shall I appear!

2 If yet, while pardon may be found,
And mercy may be sought,

My heart with inward horror shrinks,
And trembles at the thought.

3 When Thou, O Lord, shall stand disclos'd In Majesty severe,

And sit in judgment on my soul,
Oh! how shall I appear.

4 Oh! never shall my

soul despair

Her pardon to procure,

Who knows Thine only Son has died

To make that pardon sure.
