God of all grace and majesty!
Supremely great and good!

If I have favour found with Thee
Through the atoning blood,
The guard of all Thy mercies give,
And to my pardon join

A fear, lest I should ever grieve
The gracious Spirit divine.

Since mercy is indeed with Thee,
May I obedient prove,
Nor e'er abuse my liberty,

Or sin against Thy love:

This choicest fruit of faith bestow

On a poor sojourner;

And let me pass my days below
In humbleness and fear.

Still may I walk as in Thy sight,
My strict Observer see,
And Thou by reverent love unite

My wandering heart to Thee ; Still let me, till my days are past, At Jesus' feet abide;

So shall He lift me up at last,

And seat me by His side.

XX. SEEKING GOD.

YE shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all you heart.-JER. xxix. 13.

When Thou saidst, Seek ye my face, my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.-PSALM Xxvii. 8.

With doubts, and fears, and cares opprest,
Man's wayward thoughts desponding rove;

Where shall the troubled soul find rest?
Oh! fly to God, for God is love.

If grief for sin thy peace destroy,

With prayers and tears God's mercy prove; From Him seek pardon, rest, and joy, Seek, you shall find-for God is love.

In Jesus hear His mercy speak,

Fear Him who reigns in heaven above; From heaven He came the lost to seek,

Jesus is God, and God is love.

LORD TEIGNMOUTH.

Would you find the Saviour?
Seek Him while 'tis day-
Would you have His favour?
Take it while you may,
Seek Him in the manger,

Lowly, meek, and mild—
What should make a stranger
Of a simple child?

Seek Him in lone places;
In the crowded press;
Seek Him in all traces
Of His sore distress,-
In each dark temptation,
When the storms abound,
Him and His salvation,
Seek, and He is found!

Seek, where seraph-legions

Loud thanksgivings roll

Seek Him, in fall'n regions,
Throned in the soul;

In air, earth, and ocean,
In each sight and sound,
In earth's last commotion-
Seek, and He is found.

J. A. LA TROBE. (a Translation.)

Sinner, whither wilt thou go,
Burthened with thy hopeless woe ?
Knowst thou who can give relief?
Who alone can heal thy grief?
To the Eternal Sacrifice

Lift thine heart and lift thine eyes;

Here is all the remedy

Jesus lived and died for thee.

Strive, nor faint! though o'er thy soul

Sorrows heavy billows roll,

Though thy heart scarce form a prayer,

'Gainst the evil swelling there;

Keep thine eyes through good and ill
On that blessed Saviour still;

Fails thy prayer? Here look and see!
Jesus prayeth now for thee.

M. A. BROwne.

Just as I am-without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come!

L

Just as I a am-and waiting not

To rid my soul of one dark blot,

To Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am though tossed about
With many a conflict-many a doubt,
Fightings within, and fears without,"

66

O Lamb of God, I come!

Just at I am-poor, wretched, blind,
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,

Yea, all I need in Thee to find,

O Lamb of God, I come

-Thou wilt receive,

Just as I am-'

Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve,

Because Thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am-Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down,

Now to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,

O Lamb of God, I come!
